4 years old!

It seems I only update this once every 6 months or so. Here goes...

Our sweet girl is 4 today! I don't feel like enough time has passed to have a 4 year old! It just seems like yesterday that
we brought her home! She'll start pre-school in the fall and is super excited about it.

She's been such a joy to us all!
Happy 4th birthday Kayden! We love you!

It's been a while

It's been a while since I updated... I'm one of the many that mostly updates on Facebook. This school year - we hit the ground running. It seems like it's taken us longer to get accustomed to our "school schedule" as opposed to our summer one. This year has been much better for Fred. Last year he had lots of stinkers all in one class which made for a miserable year for him. I guess it takes a crummy school year to appreciate the good ones :-) K will be 3 1/2 next month which blows my mind. I can't believe I almost have a 4 year old. Where does the time go? We're hoping to get her into preschool this fall - it would just be a couple days a week but I know she'd enjoy being with other kids her age. We're looking forward to the summer and hoping to get lots of projects done around the house. K and her cousin Ashlyn are both getting so big! They love playing together and love being together. They are so sweet to watch :-)
  • jenniferlyn
Glad everything is going well! And I can't believe she's almost four either- I remember back to Pals when you were about to have her- crazy!

Have you found a preschool yet? I am putting Rylee back in preschool this fall as well. I can't decide if she will go back to the one we used last year or if we will try somewhere else.

That is so sweet! The girls have been coming out of their little shells more and more lately. This after months of training them to speak and rewarding them for their friendliness with people they don't know as well. I also think they're getting to know the Arlington church more and more, which is exactly what we want!

Busy summer!

We've had a very busy summer this year! Fred is trying to lose 100 lbs by August 23rd and he is doing SO GREAT!!! I'm so proud of him! We have K in swim lessons each day for two weeks. She's been taking 3 hour naps when she gets home so I really don't want the lessons to end! We're just enjoying our time together as a family :-)

In other news... in an attempt to squeeze every dollar out of our budget, I managed to squeeze out about $85.00 by making a few phone calls. Most of this was changing insurance plans, calling AT&T, etc... But not too shabby!

Hope you all are having a great summer and are staying cool!

Way to go on saving money! Very good!! Good for Fred. Frederic lost alittle over 100 lbs. over the last year and his life is totally changed for the better. He still has 60 more to go so we'll see if he makes it.

Ken dressing up like Mr. Noodle?! I love it! I think he would go for it, too. Of course, that would be over the top and mostly for the girls' benefit since Statler doesn't really know Mr. Noodle, but how great would that be!

Yes, I missed last night because I needed to go to bed really early. I think I was asleep by 8:30pm even though I napped on the couch from 7pm on. I am planning to go tonight and Ken is staying home with the kids.

She loved it. She's very slow to try new things, and normally I wouldn't push her to do something she was truly uncomfortable doing, but this was a chance to work with her on stepping out of her little zone and trying something new. She loved it. We'll be back for class on January 2nd as well. We're going to talk up the Bible class again and see if she'll agree to walk in more willingly next time. Thanks for being patient with her. She's a sweet girl and just loves her little routine. Doing new things is intimidating for her. :)

Almost summertime :-)

Now, especially since Fred is a teacher, we LOVE summertime around here! I just wish it wasn't so hot--like at 9:00 in the morning! This summer should be more fun than last because we have some things planned to do (mostly indoors) and Fred shouldn't have too much teacher stuff to do as he did last year. This school year has been a really rough one for him due to several stinkers in his class. Even his team lead said he should get an award for what he's endured and the spirit with which he's done it. That doesn't surprise me in the least bit... he know's He works for someone else ;-) Because of this rough school year, this summer will be so much sweeter than usual. It's an adjustment since K and I get used to our own little routine during the week, but by the end of the summer, we miss him so much! Hopefully, this summer will also bring the 2nd annual string of "Mommy Mondays" - this is the day in which he tells me to go do whatever I want to do and to not come home until I'm ready. :-) Some days I just go to the book store and look around, or to Michaels and window shop and then go get some lunch or a coffee, but last year, my favorite was going to breakfast at this old place, going to the Japanese Gardens and taking lots of really cool pictures, window shopping (and a tad bit of real shopping) and lunch. At first I felt a little guilty about Mommy Mondays but I come back a refreshed mommy afterwards and that, is priceless! I think every mommy should get a Mommy Monday :-) Happy Summer!

happy almost summer...i don't really like that season much, so i don't count down the days. :-) enjoy your Mommy Mondays!

Sounds like your Mommy Monday is good for Fred in the long run, too, if you come back all refreshed for the week! He knows a good thing when he sees it.

Hooray for summer! I'm glad y'all get to spend the extra time together. And Mommy Mondays are a great idea! I've been going to a ladies game night two Tuesdays a month and it is SO refreshing. Kyle completely encourages it because of the difference that it makes for us all.

Contentment

"Godliness with contentment is great gain". There have been times in my life where one of the blessings that God gave me was the amazing gift of contentment. I'm sorry to say that I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have at the time. It seems now that this is my newest challenge/test. Contentment is such a difficult thing to obtain sometimes. Yet it seems, at least for me, that often, when I'm not searching for it, that's when He blesses me with it.

What kind of seat do you have? All the researching got me wondering about which seat you used since K is SO tall! I'm about to get 2 Graco Nautilus car seats. They forward face (do not rear face at all) in a harness up to 65 lbs and are super tall. Then the harness comes off and it's a high back booster and then a backless booster when baby is ready for that. I'm also considering the True Fit, but in the end, I bet we get the Nautilus because it will be the last seat we'll ever have and the True Fit would still require a booster seat purchase when the time comes. We're going to go look at the seats at BRU and Target tomorrow. We're taking all 3 kids to the dentist in Rowlett! Fun! :)
