I have been blessed

Thanksgiving is such a wonderful holiday! What better thing to celebrate than all the precious blessings we have received? I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday. Ours was terrific in every way possible. Family members were here to visit for an entire week and we were able to celebrate God's boutiful gifts on Thanksgiving day with grandmothers, parents, my brother and sisters, future family members, and brothers and sisters in Christ. My parents managed to seat 29 people around one (pieced-together) table! I just love how everyone brings a dish to the feast, everything is placed in the center of the table and, after a prayer of thankfulness, the food is passed around the table. What could make you feel more like part of a family than that?

I have so much to be thankful for and love the time set aside to reflect on all that is good in our lives!

It was a blessing to get to spend that time with you and everyone! It was pretty fun passing things around that big, long, windy table and then hearing that someone in the middle missed getting something! What a great memory! Always love spending time with you and Chris and everyone else! Thanks for inviting us!

It sounds like a wonderful holiday! :)

I remember spending Thanksgiving with your family several times when we lived in Idaho! I loved how your mom laid out the table! (Actually...every memory I have of being at your family's house was good...not just the Thanksgiving ones!)

What a great day! It's amazing how many people can fit in your parents' house. I think love makes the walls expand.

A Soap Story

OK, so I'll admit I was a bit suprised at how many of us share the soap! I honestly thought we would be in the minority. (Not that it matters!)

So, here's my story:

We stop at the store to pick up a few necessities. My very thoughtful husband offers to go get soap while I get a few other things on the list. What a sweetie! I accept and we finish gathering the things we came for. As we are checking out, he excitedly shows me his excellent find from the soap isle. Dove...for men. Hmmmm. What's a girl to do? :)

Ha ha! Wow, what about your wife, lol. That is too funny! :)

Well, he just got a little too excited and, you know, guys can't handle too many different thoughts at once (^_^)

and men often don't read the extra words on the packaging. That's what I've discovered when I send my husband to get things at the grocery.

Hopefully it doesn't make you smell like dirt and sweat! ; )

Stopher gets excited over the strangest things! ("Hey look, it's a Curves!") My theory is that he was just elated to find a grime-fighting product that was actually strong enough to clean a...gasp...MAN! And since you are always fresh and sweet-smelling no matter what activity you engage in, I'm sure that it didn't even cross his mind that you may need to use the soap, too.

That's ok, thanks for your help and happy for the non-threatening moose experience, too!

Conducting a completely random survey

Because I really need to update my page but don't even have time to make meals, much less enter a long post, I decided to do a survey - just for the sheer fun of it. Anyone with an opinion is welcome to join in. The question of the day is...

Married couples and their soap: share it or have his and hers? (We're talking the body soap variety here - not hand, dish, or laundry)

The origin of the idea for this survey may or may not be revealed in a subsequent post. :)

aren't you funny! we share liquid soap from a pump dispenser.
    by rockymtnslover at 09/30/10 7:30PM
  • mockinbird
Now that we are empty nesters, we each have our own bathroom, so I guess we do not share the soap. But we both use the same KIND of soap, good old Irish Spring. I don't use any of the liquid body soaps if that's what you're talking about, but I guarantee, if I did, my husband would NOT use it.

I say share the bar, just don't tell where it's been! ; )

For me, it can either way, but Rob prefers to have his own liquid body soap because his soap smells less girly, lol.

Mostly, the same. She has some special facial stuff, but its just simpler to use the same bar soaps (liquid soaps are for the sink!)

We share the same body wash here! (You'll clue me in on the reason behind the survey later, right?)

With love

It has been one year since we said good-bye to Don. The empty space he has left behind still seems so large. Saturday we went to the wedding of a family friend who graduated from High School with Don. It was good to be there but hard at the same time. It is so easy to be saddened thinking about all the things Don had planned for his future but never got to do and yet I realize that even the most joyous things in this life are of no comparison to the happiness he has now. Thank you, Lord, for your promises and the peace they bring! Dave came home for the weekend to attend the wedding and it was great to have him here. He left this morning and the empty house seems extra lonely today. I am doing my best to focus on all my wonderful memories with Don and give thanks for the tremendous blessing of being able to share 25 years of my life with such an incredible person. I am so grateful for all the love, laughter, adventures, lessons, acomplishments, and fun we were able to share. I miss him so much and look forward to being able to be with him again someday. How good it is to know that God is in control of all.

That video made me cry. Did you make it? It is so beautifully done!

I'll keep ya'll in my prayers. I know you miss him but I know ya'll are also looking forward to being reunited with him again. The peace that comes from being a Christian and knowing all Christians will spend eternity together is amazing. We serve a wonderful God!
