Lauren, I went to the spot you asked me to. I have believed for quite some time that Jesus never chases anyone. As an example, the rich young ruler is told what he needs to do but Jesus does not beg him or manipulate him to do the thing he needs to do. I decided to be the same way. I am under obligation to teach the gospel. If I teach the truth, you are under obligation to obey it. It is not my job to monitor you. Therefore, I spend my time trying to teach plainly. What you do with the teaching is your business. You will decide whether you will go to heaven or hell. The same is true with false doctrine. I teach what I understand the truth to be. If you disagree, its your business. It is not my business to monitor you. It really is enlightening and offers a great deal of freedom to the individual. Dad

I was just up there last week. A buddy of mine and me put in on the bottom side of the Lake Lanier dam and kayaked for about 3 hours down to Settles Bridge. 1st time kayaking and I definitely plan to do more, and with more rapids!! Let me know what week the meeting is gonna be, I'd like to hear him.

I've been rafting on *real* rapids, but not kayaking. Well, there was a class II rapid on the stretch we ran last week, but only one. The rest was Class I shoals. Yes, I've been to Tallulah - couple of buds and I did the sliding rock there last summer, loads of fun. Didn't see any kayaks. I'm now searching for a good kayaking river for a couple of late summer runs...something with class II and III rapids.

Thanks for the update. The funny thing is, I pressed Terry while he was here to call me before Kalyn had a chance to call Laura, so he called like a couple of hours after the fact. I couldn't believe he thought of me two hours after the birth of his baby. He's a better friend than I. And it was oh so sweet to be able to say to Laura, "Yeah, I know" when she came to me saying, "Guess what..."

Bible class and stuff

So Ethan has moved up to the 3 and 4 year old Bible class (you know, now that he's 3!) and he loves it! I am amazed at how much harder it is! I have my doubts that Zane would be able to keep up with the amount of memory work Ethan has ;) For example, this is Ethan's very first memory verse ever:

"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:7

Wow. He was given this beast on Sunday to have memorized by Wednesday. I see the astonishment on all your faces and let me tell you I was right there with you! We have now grown accustomed to this grueling schedule (next week they'll give us the syllabus and the exam schedule :)) and am proud to say that Ethan is performing smashingly! He had no trouble memorizing this or any of the other verses since then. I am actually swelling with parental joy! He is also learning the books of the New Testament and he has a special zeal for this one since he gets to name one of the characters from Thomas the Train. That's right, when he gets to James he sings loud and proud! Can you imagine when he starts learning the 12 apostles? Getting to sing about James AND Thomas might be too much of a thrill for one little boy!

In Kayla news, she will be a year old in a couple of weeks (unbelievable!) and she's thisclose to walking. She can walk just holding my finger so really it's just a matter of courage. We're thinking about showing her an inspiring war epic to get the ball rolling a little faster. But to be fair, she has a LOT of weight to tote around. She's a monster! Sometimes, at night, I think I hear her sneaking into my room. She has this look in her eye like she thinks I'd look good stuffed with herbs and cooked in a savory sauce! So I just try to be nice to her and feed her every time she cries to make sure she doesn't come after me.

Ethan and Kayla have a love-hate relationship. Ethan absolutely loves her until she touches one of his toys. Or if he's feeling grumpy, he gets irritated by her happiness. He has even said "Mommy, Kayla's looking at me! Tell her no-no!" Cuz she loves him ALL the time! Even when he's aggrevating her (which he LOVES to do). I thought all this sibling rivalry stuff wasn't supposed to come til later! So that's it for now. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Disclaimer: I do not feed Kayla every time she cries. I realize that would not be good parenting. And I am not actually afraid of her. I was using my fictional fear of her size as an indication of how large she really is.

Or was I?

Haha! This was funny. Hmm...I teach the 3 & 4's at our congregation, maybe I should start a memory verse for them. I guess I figured they were too young but if they know entire theme songs to their favorite shows, they can memorize a sentence out of the Bible! :)

Lauren, it sounds like your babies are doing wonderful. I can't believe that tiny tiny baby I met could be big in any way :) I think it's wonderful they have them learning so much so young. I teach the 1st-4th grade and it's sad at times the things they don't know. Memory verses are hard, but I drill them and keep on them. It's a good class. I have about 13 students. How is Zane doing??

Before the game started the Gators started talkin' trash to Michigan for no reason and the coaches had to break it up. But throughout the game they were holdin' guys down after the tackle and talkin' trash. Meyer said he told them to cool it at halftime but I don't think it worked. Trevor was so mad at them.

Basically, I took away the diapers. I let him go naked on the bottoms because he will not go on the floor. (he would always go in underwear, though) He did great, a little pee on the floor at first, but he figured out pretty quickly how to tell when it was time. I let him use his potty chair and he gets to dump it in the potty and spray the cleaner in it (I use that clorox anywhere spray) and he gets a big kick out of that. He had a few accidents when we went out in underwear, but after 2 days it clicked. He would tell me with enough time to get to a bathroom that he had to go. BMs are a little more tricky, but he is getting better about giving us more than 5 seconds notice that he has to go. BTW, I love Ethan's QB answer! Good luck with the potty training, I think when they're really ready it comes pretty quickly. Noah's biggest problem was stubborness, but now that's working in our favor because he likes the potty, and he is SO proud of himself everytime he uses it.

The AFA (American Family Association) just sent me a chart on each of the candidates. Here is the link. (http://www.afa.net/pdfs/08vg.pdf). I am shocked at how little I knew about Mitt Romney. He does not represent me, morally. I had no idea how supportive he was of the gay rights crowd. Check out the links at the bottom of the chart to see the evidence of his positions. Now I'm really confused!

Halloween's a-comin'!

Alright all you creative folks out there, I need costume ideas. Kayla is all set as a honeybee if the costume gets here on time ;) Ethan is 2 and Zane and I need costumes too. I don't want to spend much (if any) money and I can't sew. This is where the creativity comes in. :) Momma already told me there are cute ideas online, but I thought I'd see if there are any tried and true ideas from people I know first. So go on and dazzle me!

A couple came to our party as a cook and a head. She put on an apron and splattered blood on it and carried a knife and he punch a hole through a box and put it over his head and they put a table cloth around it and a paper plate cut to fit around his neck. It was cool when he sat down and it was just his head on a table.

dress up like from an era, a friend of mine and I last year dressed up like the 80's and it was cheap and great. :) We did big hair lots of makeup, stone washed jeans from a thrift store and tight rolled our pants that were of course slashed in the knees and had crazy fishnet stocking and heels with leg warmers. dressing up like the 80's is even easier for a guy but it was really fun. Good luck, I have no idea what we're gonna be this year.

What's a dolf?

Ethan has taken up drawing. It's all just scribble, but he has something in mind when he's drawing and the other day he came up to me and showed me one of his masterpieces. He said, "Mommy, I drawed a dolf." I had him repeat that to make sure I got it right and asked him what a dolf was. He gave me his best you're-a-moron look, pointed to his picture and said, "A dolf's right there." As if that explains everything. What a know it all.
