10,000 lives
Formerly an athlete
Rising like a star
The sprinter sets his feet aright
And smiles as he departs
A chase at sunrise morning
A dash amongst the wave
The gentle breeze of evenings cool
As summer heat gives way
The screech of eagle soaring
Whose kingdom is the air
Speaks the name of him who runs and calls him to his lair
But he who runs, runs faster still
Through tunnels made of trees
And through the morning raindrops,
blown inland from the seas
And in the soul of him who runs
A gaping chasm fills
As space is found no more in him
For dream or promise unfulfilled
His eyes can taste the sunshine
His feet can kiss the snow
And In the eye of heavens grace
With searing heat he glows
O! The lights of sky in winter
As a mirror off the snow
The call of North Stars twinkling eye
As gazed in darkness from below
The promise of 10,000 lives
As he looks at the world
The Eager one with open eyes
And heart that can't be stayed
The mountains on the coastline
The forests near the bay
A trickling in a summer pool
Know neither loneliness nor dismay
But finally a twist of fate
A turn along the path
A runner pauses in his step
And wearily looks back
Never solitude can he attain
Though run when they pursue
A few small voices from his past
And to them his love is true
Though creatures await his affection
And mountains, his care
And kingdoms lie unconquered
Which no one else would dare
Though wings of gold lie dormant
Fine women set a feast
The next 10,000 worlds can wait the killing of this beast
For if he went on to attain
All the joy above
The few small voices from his past might never know his love
For he himself was helpless
Lonely, sad and thirsty
For all a child hungers for
Kindness, hope and mercy
And one who knew the paths of life
And of the glory pressing
And of the worlds of the kings
Had passed to him this blessing
Rising like a star
The sprinter sets his feet aright
And smiles as he departs
A chase at sunrise morning

Hey! You do exist. It has been HOW long? -
I didn't know you moved to Florida. Maybe when we visit Rob, we will get to see you. We are going to BG and to Russellville next week. I was hoping to see you but did not get encouragement along those lines.
