So this is how Rumors get started...

First off...the camping trip was fabulous. Great company, good food, no TV, Below FREEZING temps the first night, all good memories.

Now....

Sunday morning worship singing was led by a bretheren who lives in Oklahoma part of the year with work, and is back home now for a while. He gets up and is telling that the church there sends their greetings and then says "I have some news from the Thompsons'. I knew then where this was going, and looked down. He then began to say "Aaron Thompson and his wife are pregnant". HUGE GASPS and oohs came from the ENTIRE congregation. My friends were all looking pretty angry at me for thinking they were finding out some big news from some man who we rarely see. He finally decided to complete his thoughts, stating that "HIS GRANDSON AARON THOMPSON IN TEXAS IS GOIGN TO BE A DAD, making him a great grandad". And of course he snickered and laughed and there were many "oohs and ahh's and Oh that was a good one" from the members around there building. And it took a good 2 to 3 minutes for the uproar of laughter to be contained.

MY AARON, was sitting up front because he was serving on the Lord's supper, and from behind, all I could see were his ears turning BRIGHT RED. This couple has always found it humerous that their grandson and Aaron share the same name, and for several weeks now, this sweet lady has been telling people "oh Aaron Thompson is going to be a dad", with me standing near by, looking for responses. They are a very sweet couple, who are very lighthearted. Fortunately, Aaron and I have good senses of humor. Today we just so happen to have had VERY RED FACES to go along with that sense of humor!

Our preacher mentioned this again before he started his lesson, making more comments, re enacting our my facial expression, and making everyone laugh more.

So...we now know exactly how excited everyone we worship with will be when we do one day start our family. As for today, they were quickly excited...and very quickly disappointed. So glad we could provide so much humor at our expense.

At the end of service the gentleman said to me "Oh, I was walking up there and just knew I could have some fun with this while announcing I'm going to be a great grandad".

Other than that. New challenge from our Preacher: We are having 7 week series on a Sunday night class on "50 Days to a Better You: Building good habits". I'm looking forward to working towards becoming a better spiritual me!

I Love Love Love Love Love...

Discovering Edy's TagAlong and Thinmint IceCream!!!

There has never been a better combination of my two favorite things. I mean IceCream, made with Girl Scout Cookies...YUM!

I've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Tag A Long and Thinmint cookies, and this is the perfect way to subside the craving til' they arrive!

This new discovery brings nothing but pure HAPPINESS! Aaron was so excited he grabbed the containers from my hand and went straight to to the kitchen from the garage for a bowl.

Other happiness for this week:

Annual camping trip with Caleb and Erika this weekend! No technology, lots of reading, smores and popcorn on the fires, and highs in the low 70's by day, low 40's by night (maybe 30's). Adam and Steph will be joining us this time too! Should be a great weekend!

Hope you have a great rest of your week too! What happy things are going on with you all this week?

There's a first time for everything...

So, I've never played softball in my life. Seriously, I started a team in elementary school, didn't like it after the first practice, and quit. I used to hit the ball around and play catch with my uncle in the back yard or on the baseball field next to our house, but that's it.

So tonight...I played in a true game of Softball. The schools in my district have a "Staff/Spouse" league and play against one another. Aaron plays on our team. The team isn't very good, but has a lot of fun. The first game I even felt bad about myself for not playing, as there are a couple of ladies in their 50's/60's out there playing their hearts out.

So tonight...They were short two players, and I was recruited. Recruited...and made to play catcher! I hit the ball both times I was up to bat...and pretty good too.

Now...my legs feel like NOODLES!!! I just needed to share, and perhaps convey some mental images to those of you who know me and can picture me constantly jumping up and down the entire night and chasing balls around home plate. Hope it makes you giggle.
  • jenjam
Way to go! I'll bet you were great. I'm TERRIBLE at softball. My little league coach always stuck me in right field and I only got to play the required 2 innings! Ha! Glad you had fun.

  • nillabarr
BUAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Just kidding. I am proud of you for giving it a go and doing it with all your might (or so your legs say). I hope you feel okay tomorrow and not too sore!

    Love you!

(and yes... I found the chart I want to use... it's just a matter of buying!)

No Jack last night. UGH. Hopefully soon. The local network (FOX) was working but the closed captioning wasn't. It was so weird. All the other channels had captioning except FOX. UGH. We called our cable provider but they said everything was fine on their end and it was the local network. We couldn't get through to FOX last night. So, we had to email them. Of course, no response yet!!!! I'm really upset because I missed 24 last week too!!!! I'm hoping to get FOX to send us a DVD of last week and this week's episodes with closed captioning.

Have you seen Jesus?

Okay, I try not to post too many super deep and serious things, as I really like to keep that kind of stuff to myself. This is a happy /thoughtful post though. Perhaps these thoughts came from a week spent in bed with the flu, and lots of time to talk to nobody except God during that week.

I would venture to say that my faith in the past year or to has been very complacent in many ways. I have constantly trusted in God, loved God, and done what He says and expects in a very routine fashion.

Well, the past month or 2, something I have found myself becoming more actively aware of God in my day to day life, and in response to my prayers. At the same time, I have actively seen Satan more and more in my life. I know that I am seeing Satan more, because he is responding to my unclouded vision to God and the way that I am trying to look for Him daily. This is making it easier for me to talk directly to Satan as much as I am to God. As much as I am praying and talking to God more in the past month or two, I am also trying to actively speak to Satan, just flat out telling him to get away from me.

Well...I know that this new found strength is coming because I have several wonderful friends, 2 in particular and amazing husband who are helping to stay focused and check in on my relationship with God daily/weekly, as I am with them. I know that this is why God has designed for us to spend time with people of a shared faith.

I am realistic in knowing that there will always be roller coasters of strength and weaknesses in my faith, but this time, I am praying earnestly for my coaster to be up longer than it is down, and for my friends in like faith to be willing to call me out on things if they see my slipping.

I am looking around and seeing Jesus my savior and God my father so much more, and it isn't always according to what I want. I pray that you all have similar relationships to help you this year as you become spiritually stronger.

My highlight at bible class last night: A 4 year old asked me if spiders lived in hell with Satan after we squashed them? Because he just knows that the devil sends the spiders to scare us and bite us and make us mad. HA! I laughed really hard, he was so serious with his thoughts!
  • rica5219
You're such a wonderful and amazing person. I'm so glad that even though I don't get to see you, that I'm able to keep up with you. You are such an encouragement to me still and I look up to you more than you know. I love you!

God gives...

I have always known that God gives us certain people in our lives, at certain periods of time, for specific reasons. He has blessed me with so many friends, and many of whom are maintained at a distance This weekend, He really showed me why He has provided me with certain friends. I think I can take advantage of the fact that he has blessed me with so many wonderful people, friends and family, near and far, that sometimes Satan can pop in there and make me complaicent to how I can be learning from my friends spiritually.

I know this may be a little random, but this weekend made me so grateful for the friends that I have, specifically a wonderful distance friendship with a very fantabulous Christian young woman, that runs deep in Christ's love and not just daily "common interests".

I was also reminded how much I deeply connect and am close to another specific person who lives only 30 minutes away, but we rarely see one another. So this years goal: Spend time with each other! Best part, our husbands get along great!

I pray that you each are blessed with friendships like I have, and that you are able to take the time to spend some time learning from them, and helping them the way that God would want you too.
  • stylinmama
