So this is how Rumors get started...
First off...the camping trip was fabulous. Great company, good food, no TV, Below FREEZING temps the first night, all good memories.
Now....
Sunday morning worship singing was led by a bretheren who lives in Oklahoma part of the year with work, and is back home now for a while. He gets up and is telling that the church there sends their greetings and then says "I have some news from the Thompsons'. I knew then where this was going, and looked down. He then began to say "Aaron Thompson and his wife are pregnant". HUGE GASPS and oohs came from the ENTIRE congregation. My friends were all looking pretty angry at me for thinking they were finding out some big news from some man who we rarely see. He finally decided to complete his thoughts, stating that "HIS GRANDSON AARON THOMPSON IN TEXAS IS GOIGN TO BE A DAD, making him a great grandad". And of course he snickered and laughed and there were many "oohs and ahh's and Oh that was a good one" from the members around there building. And it took a good 2 to 3 minutes for the uproar of laughter to be contained.
MY AARON, was sitting up front because he was serving on the Lord's supper, and from behind, all I could see were his ears turning BRIGHT RED. This couple has always found it humerous that their grandson and Aaron share the same name, and for several weeks now, this sweet lady has been telling people "oh Aaron Thompson is going to be a dad", with me standing near by, looking for responses. They are a very sweet couple, who are very lighthearted. Fortunately, Aaron and I have good senses of humor. Today we just so happen to have had VERY RED FACES to go along with that sense of humor!
Our preacher mentioned this again before he started his lesson, making more comments, re enacting our my facial expression, and making everyone laugh more.
So...we now know exactly how excited everyone we worship with will be when we do one day start our family. As for today, they were quickly excited...and very quickly disappointed. So glad we could provide so much humor at our expense.
At the end of service the gentleman said to me "Oh, I was walking up there and just knew I could have some fun with this while announcing I'm going to be a great grandad".
Other than that. New challenge from our Preacher: We are having 7 week series on a Sunday night class on "50 Days to a Better You: Building good habits". I'm looking forward to working towards becoming a better spiritual me!

Funny blog! I called the FC bookstore and they stil have plenty. Give them a call and they will hold 2 for you. Let me know what you think of the material. Monica did a great job of designing the cover and formating the book. -
Poor Aaron! I really can't wait to hear that news one day though...:) -
You handled that much better than I would have. I cannot tell you how disappointed people would have been. That is rather funny though. :-) -

I'm sorry you had to go to a funeral but I know there's nothing you can do to control those things!! Hopefully we'll cross paths soon. -
