Last night we got to hang out with Sharon's Uncle Mike again! I'm really excited to be able to hang out with him again. No matter how things are going, he's always good for a smile and a laugh. It's great to see you again, Mikey-poo!!
Also, a huge thanks to Sparky and Marky for helping out with the move! You guys rock!!!

Yup. I saw the latest 'Twilight' movie last night with my wife and my mom.
It was just as stupid as the first movie and even worse than the book.
The worst parts: the writing, the acting, the casting, the CG, and everything else involved in the movie.

What have you asked of God lately?
It occurs to me that I have been doing entirely too much asking lately. I have been asking for the means to take care of my family. I have been asking for safety and health for my wife and daughter. I have been asking for relief from the pressures of this world.
Though many of these things may seem like noble things to ask for, I fear my perspective has been a little skewed.
I heard a story today about a crippled man who prayed constantly for healing in his legs and arms. After years of asking for these things, it occurred to him that he cared more about his health than he did about his God.
I've been doing a lot of asking lately and not nearly enough praising. If I love God only because of the things He can do for me, then I don't love Him enough. If I pray to Him only because I believe He has the power to make my life on earth better, then I don't love Him enough.
When Paul was in prison, he didn't ask for deliverance. He simply sang praises to his God. And God responded, not to Paul's requests, but to Paul's praise.
Whether or not we receive the answers we want from our prayers, our God is worthy of our praise. Whether he blesses us with health or allows our bodies to be touched by disease and injury, our God is worthy of our praise. Whether we are surrounded by those who love us, or whether we are alone in the midst of enemies, our God is worthy of our praise. Whether He makes us as rich as Solomon or as destitute as Lazarus, our God is worthy of our praise.
I'm definitely not saying that it's wrong to ask God for the desires of our heart. In fact, we are told to do that. But before we do that, we need to examine where our heart is and what exactly it is that our hearts desire. If we care more about our health, our comfort, our circumstances, or even our families more than we care about God, then we have no business expecting to receive anything from Him.
Next time you think to ask God for something, put it off for a little while. Instead, fall to your knees and praise Him for who He is.
