Our dishes situation happened after having friends over to the house. I love having people over but it always amazes me how much of a mess a group of people can make in a short amount of time! :)

it's november, and i spent the day in the pool, well most of the day. before that 'my' girls and i were outside getting hot. then we headed to the the pool to cool off, ate lunch outside. took naps, then ended the day at the local play ground. we're in AZ. if we weren't here, we'd not've gone swimming today. less than 48 hrs from now, i'll be with my BIGlilBrother & SIL..... yip~pee, yahoo!!!!!!! for that i am soooo thankful. my knee is doing sooo much better, i just can't use it the way i'd like to still, but much better, that too i am thankful for. not too much else to update about. hope everyone has a happy turkey day!
  • cruisingmom
That is just terrible that your job forces you to spend time in the pool and eating lunch outside with munchkins.
I am jealous that you get to eat turkey with our AZ family but I am looking forward to Dec 24th.
You are right...much to be thankful for.
BTW...yes Mrs. Captain Boatshoes. I am sorry, I thought I had told you.

Your first sentence gave me pause! It looked a little nippy to be in a pool in NYC! Arizona makes sense. On Saturday, we put Christmas lights on the trees outside...in shorts and flipflops. Something wrong with THAT picture too!
Have a great Thanksgiving with the family.

Yeah, my pic was at the reservoir, which is round, so the views from every side are amazing. Let's walk it sometime, when your knee is all the way better. ENJOY your family and your holiday. I REALLY miss you lots!

new format?!?!

does everyone else see what i'm seeing? technology wise, recently, i've been having some weird things happening. so this may just be me.

knee update.. it's doing ok. the cortisone shot i got is helping it in a good way. dr gave me the ok to go ahead and slowly start back into walking and mild strength training.

my knee story

first i must say...

SOME
OF
U...

are quite funny. thanks for following the pattern.

my last post was about a week ago, and mentally i'd hit a wall. i potentially had a very painful injury to my knee, but it wasn't hurting me. my mind was sooo hurt. if you have time and want the full story keep reading.. if you want to get to the point read the red words. for a couple weeks i'd been eating healthy, better food choices, managing portion sizes, not eating when i wasn't hungry... you know the things people should do to if they're trying to eat healthy AND lose weight. to combine with my healthy eating, friday, october 9th, was my first day of starting everyday exercising until i hit at least 14 days of doing it daily, to help get myself into the habit of it. i walked 2.5 miles on friday evening, saturday morning, sunday night, early monday morning before work, tuesday after work.... then wednesday afternoon, i was at the gas station, took a step and my knee gave out. it gave out in the way that if you're standing straight legged and someone kicks you in the back of the knee and you lose your stance, yeah that's what it felt like. at the same time i knew i couldn't stand on it immediately. my mind instantly starting worrying that something really bad had happened. here i was on this roll to really start losing weight, and living healthier, and my knee decides to quit. i made my way home with my little one, (3yrs) who was with me, talked to my dad, a dr friend, who advised me to immediately go the ER, then i worked out all the details of who'd take care of my little one, and who'd pick up my bigger one (6yr) from school. i ultimately ended up driving myself to the ER (which was really funny, for those of us who know about a comedian skit about driving one's self to the ER). sara, my jewish nanny friend was with me, as well as her two little ones, and my 3 yr old. the ER in greenwich, CT actually has vallet parking, but sara was going to be taking all the girls back to her employers house to help me out til my employers made it back from the city. the ER trip time was only about 2 hrs. there i had xrays, and the dr said that she felt that i'd probably torn my mensicus (cartilage around knee), but referred me to an orthopedic. she gave me a few instructions... one was "no exercising". that's not words a fat person expects to ever hear from a dr, but i did, and i immediately started crying. i saw the orthopedic dr the next day, he felt it was probably my mensicus as well, but before going any further he wanted me to get an MRI. so the following day, i had that. i had some pretty down mental moments til i met dave, the MRI tech, who was very nice, and in a wheel chair. sure i'm fat, and a dr said don't exercise, and i'm not sure how long til i can get back into my exercising, but at least i can, carefully, stand on two feet. with the MRI being done on a friday, i had to wait til monday at the earliest to find anything out. so that left me to pretty much being stuck for a few more days of not knowing. monday i did talk to the dr. the radiologist hadn't written up a report from the MRI, so the dr didn't want to fully tell me what was happening til he got that, but he did say that he'd seen the MRI, and it looked that my mensicus had actually not been torn, rather that i have a problem with the back of my knee cap. i'm sure this problem has a name, i just haven't gotten it yet. the next morning (we're now at tuesday), the dr called me and the radiologist's report said what he'd told me. so the next step in treating this would be a cortisone shot. so tuesday afternoon, i went and got one. so far i feel a bit of relief, i am working normal schedule of 13ish hrs/day, so by the end of the day i'm exhausted, but feeling better. not to mention, after doing next to nothing for 4 days, it takes a bit to get the body going. all in all, hopefully, the pain will decrease, and i'll get to feeling even better. thanks for all the prayers that have already been said on me & my knees behalf, if you don't mind... keep 'em coming. i've got a long way to go and i'd like my knees to be with me, standing through this journey.

another happy thing....

kaz is 2 months old today (10/22/09)! hopefully his mama will share some new pics with us soon, no pressure ma ;o) thanks for keeping kaz and his parents in your prayers. he's growing big, healthy, & oh so cute.

Our prayers will continue for you and your knee! Did they say how long before you could exercise again? Congrats on the great progress you have made in your healthy lifestyle goals. Sorry your momentum got spoiled but I have faith you'll get it back. In the meantime remember to lean on your friends for emotional support as well as physical support.
Thanks for remembering Kazzie! New Pics are coming soon!

boo. i totally understand how demoralizing it can be when youre pumped about a new process, and it getting spoiled for reasons completely out of your control. it can be so angering and frusrating. but you seem to have such a level view about it. thats awesome.

Why not? :) It is all about light and dark. Celebrating light coming to the world is a good thing in my book. What is wrong with the whole world thinking about it for a day?

I do not believe that the church should recognize the holiday. I do not think it is wrong for me to think about any part of Jesus' story any day that I want. Thinking about his birth has NOTHING to do with recognizing His death every week. I think Christmas is a great opportunity to teach people. More people in the world are thinking about Him then and it leads to many opportunities to teach. It is a very personal thing and I do not think that we SHOULD celebrate Christmas, but if a person or family feels like it is a good opportunity to teach or think about Christ's birth I think it is fine. I only brought it up because I think it ironic that Christians cling so tightly to Halloween and boldly defend it when it is STILL a satanic and pagan holiday (not just with "roots" there) yet they will fight to the death to keep any one from thinking about Jesus on Christmas. Halloween is an ACTIVE satanic holiday. There are over 100 million occult members who celebrate it as their main holiday. How can we just ignore that and yet spend so much energy blasting people who chose to think about Christ? I can only think how that would look to a non-believer.
    by mamahastings at 10/27/09 6:51AM
  • mamahastings
Your only argument is that there is no Biblical example to celebrate Christmas. Where is your Biblical example for celebrating Halloween? If you are going to hide behind Romans 14, I could do the same thing for Christmas. (Not to mention all the verses about shuning anything associated with evil.) I have in no way made any personal judgements on people. I answered your Mom's question. I know and love most everyone in the discussion and if I really thought anyone was in danger of Hell, I would personally (not on here) come to each and talk about it. This is the third year that we have not participated in Halloween. I have not made a big deal about it to others because I respect their personal decisions on the holiday matter.
