Time for an update

Well it's been a while, but the house saga continued since my last post. Continued until today, that is.

We closed on our house today. It's not the house we were under contract on when I last posted, we had to give up on that one, and there were a few more in between. But we've found a good house and we're excited to move in.

We're doing some painting this weekend and moving next weekend.

If any of you are bored either of those 2 weekends, just come on over :)

I do wish we lived closer so I could help you paint. I like painting! Can't wait to see your house. :D (But I'm even more excited about seeing you and David!)

The best birthday yet! :)

So, my quarter century birthday was awesome. David, you rocked it! Thank you so much for everything!

My birthday started off with receiving flowers from my sweet hubby at work on Friday; a beautiful bouquet of bright and colorful daisies.

Then on Sat, after spending some time looking at a few houses, we went to Worlds of Fun. And my awesome hubby, who pretty much hates roller coasters, rode 3 of the 4 roller coasters with me. What a guy, huh?!

After going home to clean up, he took me to dinner at Hibachi, a Japanese Steakhouse on the Plaza. That was my first time at a Japanese Steakhouse and I loved it. The food was great and those guys can do some crazy things with knives :)

For my gift, he got me a lovely Citizen watch and concert tickets for Brandi Carlile.

Then today my parents came up, went to church with us, then took us to lunch. They even helped me look at houses this afternoon.

I can't imagine a better birthday. The bar is set pretty high for all future celebrations. ;)

Wow! That is great! Any one of those things would have made it a great day but you did all of it!

That's awesome! A milestone birthday deserves something extra special! :) Did I ever tell you about David and the Japanese Steak House that he went to for his aunt's rehearsal dinner (he was about 8 years old)? I had to hide all my knives for a while! lol

Yes! Fun experiments (and demos) are the best part! I evaporated the water out of sucrose with sulfuric acid last week, and boy was that dramatic! The burning money happened too fast to be as spectacular as I thought it would be (soak a dollar bill with 1/2 water, 1/2 alcohol, then ignite--only the alcohol burns until it's gone and the flame goes out). Do you have any more ideas that I might have overlooked? I can share with you what I do each week and maybe it will "trigger" other experiments. After all, isn't chemistry lab supposed to be creative??? :)

I'm hoping to see some of your fall colors. That's the best part of fall (along with the cooler temps). :)

Well, today is my last day at Truman. It sure will feel weird when I walk out of here, knowing that I'll never see these people again.

But the new job is a great opportunity and I'm looking forward to it. The 15 min drive sure will be a nice change.

I somehow doubt I'll be hearing you reminisce much about the good ol' days at Truman :-p

Don't be too sure--even the aggravation of the world's worst job fades with time, and Truman wasn't the world's worst, was it, Ashley? (Well, except for a few patients in the outpatient pharmacy....)

Ouch!

Some of you may remember me mentioning a cyst on my foot a few months ago . . .

Well it came back :(

I just got done having it sucked out and getting a cortisone shot. So now my foot hurts VERY much and is throbbing. Unfortunately I'm still at work and am trying to figure out a way to finish my shift. The cold from an ice pack helps, but the pressure of the ice pack pushing against the foot makes it feel worse.

Somehow, I'm going to have to get my shoe back on and drive myself home . . .

Aug 1st already?

Boy July went by fast! Since today is Aug 1, that means that there are:

5 days til we leave for Minneapolis, just a short vaca

16 days til I start my new job

22 days til my bday

_?_ days til we get our house--kinda wishing I knew more about that one, but it's possible that we could get it by the end of the month

Happy August . . .
