Our new House the shell is now finished
-
This is the long awaited house we are building. It is all made out of steel. My husband said he was not running from anymore hurricanes. The wind engineer that did the inspection was impressed with it. the bed rooms will be upstairs with a large bathroom and utility room. down stairs will be kitchen dinning room, and living room, a toilette and sink under the stairs. The back side looks just the same, only 2 doors with widows, and no wall windows. The same porch is on the back. Can you tell we love porches.

Hello Pleonast friends.
I have not posted a new entry in a very long time. Most of you know we sold our house in Frindswood last July, and moved back to Alvin. We own one acre of land off hwy 6 We lived there for about 25 years before be moved to Friendswood. The house is a piece of junk, that is why we moved in the first place. We had tried selling the acre off and on before, but with out giving it away, was not able to. Paying double property taxes was getting really hard. So we decided to sell our nice house, live in the old house and use the money from the sell to build a new house on the back of the acre in Alvin. Then tear down the old house. That was our plan. The city of Alvin had other plans. When we went to get our permit, they said we had to tear down the old house first. There was an ordinance, that we did not know about that does not allow 2 houses on one property at the same time. We had to go to city hall and get permission to do this. In fact we had to go through 2 meetings to do this. After 2 months we finally got permission. Went to get our permit, and the inspector had all kind of things for us to do before issuing us a permit. Another month goes by. We finally get the permit. Hired someone to do our foundation. They came and scraped /leveled the ground. Hoping the next day to drill holes to pour piers in the ground for the slab to set on. Well the next day the sky's opened and it rained for at least half of the month of Oct. I had the best mud wallow anyone could ever want! A week ago today we finally got the ground dry enough for the workers to drill the holes and pour the cement for the piers. We now have the boards for the foundation, and sand. Bruce rented a ditch digger, to cut a trench for the sewage plumbing. He worked all day yesterday, and half a day today. Now we hope this passes inspection, and to get cement poured next week for the foundation. I wanted to post some pictures. It has been so long since I used photo bucket I could not figure out how to move them. I think it has changed since last summer. I thought I would write something so everyone would know I am still around. I do still get on and read everyone else's posts. Will try to keep you updated as progress goes on.

Fun day at Galveston Beach

Hey, I saw your comments on the problems taking fish oil with the taste and the wonderful aftertaste, etc.... We had similar problems. My sister-in-law, has her phd in nutrition and she is adament that we take it . The hospital she works for came up with a way to get rid of the horrible taste and after effects. We put the capsules (the entire bottle) in the freezer. Then, we take one out and take it with a MEAL and take it. It has completely gotten rid of all the horrible taste and the belching. Hope you don't mind me adding my two cents worth here :)
