MY FIRST KIDNEY STONE
okay rewind to 3 am monday morning.... done? good.
i never drink a lot, therefore i never pee a lot. that's me in a nutshell for anyone who cared to know. well earlier at oh say around 8 pm sunday night my lower legs had some pitting edema (swelling that when you press your finger into it and then lift up your finger print is still present) bilaterally. so anyways it had been about 24 hours at that time since i'd had something to drink but since i had the extra fluid in my legs i especially didn't want to drink any more and have them swell up any extra.... i was kinda worried that they were swollen like that because they'd never done that before but nonetheless i went to bed and didn't worry too much.
so anyways it's 3am monday morning.... i wake up to someone stabbing me in my left kidney only instead of stabbing repeatedly they just stab once and then dig around with the knife. so no one was really stabbing me but that's the best way to describe my pain... it was a friggin 10 out of 10.... and i have a pretty high tolerance to pain (i once broke my own big toe in 3 different places and never shed a tear or let out a yelp).
the pain wouldn't stop and it felt like i had to pee but i couldn't and each time i tried it made the pain hurt worse. i was throwing up what little i had in my stomach and before long i was dry-heaving about every 15 minutes. i was laying in the fetal position in the bathroom floor wimpering in pain and holding my side when my 18 y/o brother josh found me and proceded to kick me out to the other bathroom so he could take a shower before he had to leave for uah and he also told mom i was laying in the floor (i hate to tell people i'm sick). so the pain and nausea and vomiting continued...and worsened substantially until i couldn't stand up straight and had the worst shakes i've ever experienced. it really felt like my side could rip wide open at any moment.
at 8am i finally broke down and let my momma take me to the ER. they asked me to pee in a cup and of course i couldn't. so it was pretty obvious that i had a kidney stone and the doc said i needed fluids and lots of them pretty quickly so the nurse started an IV and gave me a bolus of fluids and also some pain medicine and nausea medicine (if anyone saw a g35 pulled over on the side of 157 yesterday morning with someone hanging out the door puking... it was ME!!!!haha)
so the CT showed a kidney stone... by this time the medicine was kicking in and i could have sworn the doc said it was 5 cm in diameter but surely he really said 5 mm. so they gave my momma instructions to make me drink THIRTEEN EIGHT ounce glasses of water a day until i pass the stone then let me put my clothes back on and i stumbled like a drunk outta there..... made it into the house... passed out in the recliner waking up every now and then just long enough for momma to pour water down my throat and i think i may have talked on the phone to a couple people. i woke up this morning at 8 am and no i still have not passed the stone but i am not hurting near as badly.
hopefully i'll pass it soon.
i know everyone really cares about my kidney stone drama :-D
love you all!!!! MWAH!
