updates!!!
well it has been quite a few months since i have updated as fudge most recently pointed out. I thought i might make a quick blog to let anyone who actually still checks my blog (i hope they haven't been holding their breath) know what i've been up to lately.
first off, for anyone that didn't know, i went to work as a travel nurse in Los Angeles, CA last august. During my 4.5 month contract i dated a couple actors and models. The one which I was most interested in is now on the show "Entourage" on HBO. His name is Adam. I broke up with him because we have much different lifestyles and plus I had to come home eventually and he wasn't going to be able to support me. Then I met Mike. He was a complete sweetheart to me. He is an architect and lived above Joey Lawrence (whoa!) in a penthouse suite in ONE of the condominium complexes he had designed and built. Although he offered me a free place to stay in one of his extra bedrooms (and when i turned it down he offered me a condo all for myself just across the atrium from his). I hated working as nurse out there. Travel nursing is not all its cracked up to be in those L.A. hospitals. So when i argued i would not work as a nurse any longer than my contract lasted he offered to let me be his personal secretary and walk his dog or either get me a job working for his dad who is also a bigtime architect. soooo i'm a complete weirdo and because i wasn't feeling the butterflies for him, i stopped seeing him and came home at the end of my contract. sometimes i wonder if i made the right choice because he really was so sweet to me and really showed me how much he cared.... it was something i had not experienced from other guys i had dated.
so anyways, i also met jay leno and was on the show, and i met johnny knoxville at santa monica pier and had my picture made with him. one night while hanging out with adam for a fashion show at Privilege we saw hugh heffner (sp?) and his girlfriends! it was pretty cool but he looked half dead and just sat there all night while the girls danced with each other. seemed like a pretty boring lifestyle to me.
well so my parents came out at the end of my contract and we all drove cross-country home. it was so fun! we got to see so many things and got to spend A LOT of time together. i had wanted to do that so badly since watching "Elizabethtown." we bonded a lot. we all tried some california wine together (something i never thought my parents would not object to!) and then dad gave me 20 bucks to gamble with in Vegas. lol... again... something i never imagined doing with my parents. momma didn't gamble much, she just walked around the casinos the entire time while daddy and i went to work on the slot machines. at one point dad won 20 bucks and then i lost all but 4 cents... i have the cash-out voucher that i keep in my wallet for goodluck. i don't know why i consider it goodluck since i lost $19.96. oh well. when we got done (it only took about 30 minutes to do that much damage so we figured we better get outta there pretty quick and none of us were interested in shows) we were getting back in the car and mom said "so paul newman was sitting at one of those card tables in there." lol instantly daddy and i were fussing with her why she didn't come and get us so we could see him too. she said didn't think it was a big deal.
well so to make a long story even longer, those almost 5 months were a lot of fun and very interesting. i learned a lot about life and myself... and things i thought i knew about myself, i am having to try to figure out all over again. life... it's so crazy.
now i'm back working at cullman regional in the CCU. it's nice being back with all the folks i know and love however i hang out with very few of my friends now. they are mostly all married and starting families and i find that i just don't relate to them like when we were younger. so i hang out with such an eclective group of people. my mom is my best friend which i like a lot. i know i can always trust her and when i have something to get off my chest, she really listens to me. that's really nice because here lately i've got so many feelings i have got to figure out and she always wants to help me and helps to influence me to make the right decisions when i probably wouldn't otherwise.
okay well ontop of work, i only had a two year RN degree so i decided last fall to take all online classes from JSU towards my BSN-RN. i'm on the president's list and all that fun stuff and will graduate this summer. although i only work 3 nights a week i am so sick of the crazy lifestyle that comes with nursing and especially working nights. i also don't like working in hospitals. nurses hardly ever get raises no matter how experienced or how accomplished they are. hospitals are always looking to cut back and typically the first people that see that, are the nurses. sure, they hire in at a great pay when they first start out, but it doesn't ever really change significantly after that. call me selfish, but i want a job that gives me incentive. sure seeing my patients get better and knowing i have played a huge role in saving many lives is a great feeling, but it doesn't pay for all the toys and the lifestyle i intend to have. it really isn't even what i love anyways. i love business and being in charge and persuading people to love the same things i am passionate about. so i just took my GMAT on 4/25 and have applied for my masters in science management at uah. i am wanting to have a concentration in marketing but i may choose project management. it will be a great opportunity for me to finally start the career i have always wanted.... and get out of hospitals forever!
so i'll be doing school full time at uah in the fall which is exciting since i will be moving up there with my two brothers and a lot of my very good and single friends.
well so i don't really know what other new stuff there is to say. i just wanted to update....
hope everyone has a wonderful summer!!! i may not write again for a few more months cause i fully expect to spend all my free time in the pool!
God bless all those who actually read all of this! ;-)

Howdy Katie- In the short time I knew you at FC, who would have thought you would be having a killer time in LA! I'm glad you're havng fun and intersting times, even thought I don't know who some of the famous people you mentioned are! (No tv... I have nothing but pop culture ignorance... but Knoxville and Leno are heroes!)
