New Puppies

Todd and I got 2 chihuahua puppies the day after Christmas. They are so fun to watch run and play. Coco is dark brown and white (Todd's pick) and loves lots of running and playing. I picked Ginger. She runs and plays also, but is not as active as Coco. Ginger likes to cuddle, and she doesn't like going outside in the cold.

Cedar Trees on Loop 360

I was driving down Loop 360 the other day and saw several cedar trees randomly decorated for Christmas. I had forgotten about these, but apparently different people just pick a tree and decorate it however they feel -- another fun, Austin style tradition.
  • csusoftballgirl
I remember the first time I saw that. I was a bit confused bit it. I guess you're right--it's an Austin thing:)

That's so cool! Didn't know they did that. What are y'all gonna do for Christmas?
    by imaprettypenguin at 12/19/08 12:27PM
  • imaprettypenguin
That will be fun...we are staying home this year! We usually make like 4 stops all day to the different sides of the familes..but this year we are going to relax and start our own traditions. It's just too much work. So Josh's Mom has agreed to come stay at our house Christmas Eve! So it will be nice! Y'all have a safe trip and stay warm, it's supposed to be freezing!!

I like that you keep tabs on us. Went to finish up shopping yesterday and it was a balmy 20 when I started. Came home for lunch and went out at 2:00. By 4 it was 5 degrees and windy. Plus it snowed ALL day and the plows couldn't keep up so the roads and parking lots were a mess. We probably got 6-7 inches. Now THAT'S what christmas shopping is supposed to be like in my opinion. You just don't know what you are missing! :) (High of -15 tomorrow - that I can do without. I do prefer 0 or above.)

That sounds neat. My sis is going to loan me hers in a couple of weeks. I did just finish the other one which was very good. ;) Thanks!

Stony Point's Super Season Ends With a Heartbreaker

Stony Point lost to Allen today by 2 points, 23-21. It was a great game, back and forth, but a heartbreaking loss. We scored a touchdown with 3 minutes left, but Allen went back down the field and threw a touchdown pass with less than a minute to go. We got the ball back, but only had 38 seconds, and couldn't get down the field far enough to kick a field goal. I felt bad for the players. They played well, though, and can look back at a remarkable history making season for them.
  • windham4life
wow, close game!!! That's sad that they lost, but sounds like it was a great game and so awesome that they got so far this season!!!

What are y'all doing?

I'm glad you tried the mustard trick. And even happier you liked the way the meat turned out when cooked. My mom KNEW how to cook. . . The story goes that in the first 10 years of marriage my dad gained 100 pounds. Where does Stony Point play this week?
    by maryel at 12/08/08 1:49PM
  • kimgriffith
That is awesome! It's so great when your team is doing good. Good thing HS doesn't have BCS standings! Hope they go all the way.

  • kimgriffith
No, what's the BBTB? We always have Heather over to watch the championship this time I will be cheering for her team. I think Mac Brown showing class cost Texas the BCS championship game and I'm okay with that. I would rather the kids get playing time than run the score up on other teams. Who does Stony Point play next? I've been following Lake Travis (just a little) since their quarterback just signed with Texas.

My First Deer

A couple of weekends ago, I went on my second hunting trip this year and actually shot a deer. It was quite an experience. We took the deer to the processor; received it back this past weekend; I made a beef and noodles dish with some of the meat last night, yet didn't eat any myself. Todd and Cody said it was really good and didn't have a "wild" taste at all. I have some sort of mind to stomach connection about it...I just have a hard time eating anything out of the "norm." I'm glad they enjoyed it, though.

Stony Point is still in the playoffs. They play Garland this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Baylor. Go Tigers!
  • kimgriffith
That is awesome!! Who knew you were such a hunter! You always seem to impress me:)

Wow, that is crazy. I could never get the guts to shoot a deer, or eat the deer that I shot! lol... as long as I don't think about the animal, I can eat it just fine. Conrats to Stony point! That is great!
    by windham4life at 11/25/08 11:58AM
  • roseofsharon
I'm impressed! Being related to all those boys is rubbing off on you. I'm not sure I could do the hunting - but I can do the eating if it's not too gamey.
    by roseofsharon at 11/25/08 4:29PM
  • maryel
That is way cool! My mom was quite the deer hunter. She knew how to cook venison so it didn't have a "gamey" taste to it. Did you keep the head for mounting?

  • misslynn
Good for you! Did you like how I "honked" you out of the way last night?? I told Lou that you were the only one that I could honk at that would know I was teasing you and she said, "Oh that Kathy is such a sweet thing!" And we both laughed when you shrugged your shoulders and scooted to the side with a mischievous smile! Love you!
