A Week of Reunions!

We've had a fun week! On Tuesday, I got to meet Lisa, Peni, and Nina for lunch. The last time I saw Peni was in 2001 at my grandmother's funeral, and hadn't seen Lisa or Nina since before that. So it was long overdue! My kids were, of course, very quiet. But as we were leaving, Joshua told me, "Mommy, I like Ben. He was funny!"

Then, on Thursday Nathan and Bekah stopped by on their way to Georgia. It was so nice to see all the kids together again having fun!

Now, I'm just trying to get ready to start school on Monday. I've mostly finished the school room, for now anyway. Just a few more things to put away and I'll be done. Then to look over what we'll be doing the first couple of days. I'm getting excited! I really think it's going to be even easier this year, having Joshua and Rebekah both in school and having a separate room. If I can just finish reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows before then :) I read the first 3 or 4 books during chemo 2 years ago, but never finished the rest. After taking the kids to see the 6th movie, I decided to finally find out how it all ends. We had gotten the book from the library for Joshua, so it was sitting around. Jody picked it up and started it, and a few days later was finished with it. Well, I can't let him know what happens without finding out for myself (since he won't tell me anyway), so I started it. It's so additcting!! I really only read it in the morning while the kids are still sleeping/getting up and after they've gone to bed. A few more days, and I should be finished though ;)

And, there's still time to start your Usborne business for just $15! You can fill out the agreement or find out more on my website, www.LearnWithUsborne.com.

Thanks for coming. I wish we could have talked more. It meant so much to me that so many of our ELR family came out!

another fun day!

Looks like we're going to have a fun day! Jody is off work today. We have a few things to get done this morning, then the Fultz boys are coming over this afternoon. The kids are really looking forward to them coming, especially Joshua (and Jody).

Not much new is going on. Just keeping busy getting our school room ready, Usborne stuff, and everyday work. I was hoping to start school next week, but I may wait until the following week. We'll see how much I can get done this weekend. We had just been using our new school room as a storage room, so when we started cleaning it out I just moved everything upstairs. Well, it's all still upstairs, and I need to go through it all. I'm ready to get rid of anything I don't want to keep, instead of moving it around like we've been doing. I guess it's spring cleaning, a little late ;)

Getting ready for school was always exciting to me. I particularly loved going to Wal-Mart to buy new folders, pencils, notebooks, binders, etc. Every year I get the urge to buy that stuff all over again, even though I don't need it. Have fun, and good luck!

LOL...yeah, as long as I don't want to join in the conversation! :D I do need something, but I think I'll wait until tonight when Andy gets home so I can run from the house screaming! :D Ok, not feeling up to running yet, but walking is good!

WOW!

It's good to be home! I made it home Monday, just in time for our 14th anniversary on Tuesday. Jody was off work Tuesday, so we spent the day with the kids. Joshua had started reading the Harry Potter books, hoping to have the 6th one read before we saw the movie. He's on the 5th one now, but decided he was ready to see the movie anyway. So we took the kids to see it, then out for lunch. They all loved it! It was a fun day. Now we'll just have to plan a special anniversary date for the two of us ;)

Convention was wonderful! So much excitement and fun! Jim Trelease, author of The Read-Aloud Handbook, was one of our speakers. It was great to hear what he had to say, especially after reading his book on the way out there.

And we got some exciting news yesterday. You can get started with Usborne in August for as little as $15!!! So if you've ever thought about doing something like this, want to get a lifetime discount on Usborne Books, want to earn some extra money each month, or whatever your reason, let me know and I'll be happy to talk with you to see if this is something that might work for you. I'm ready to help several people get started, and you could be one of them! Just let me know as soon as possible. The price starts at $15, and increases as the month goes on.

The kids really enjoyed staying with my mom and dad. Their VBS was last week, and they had a great time there. It's so fun to watch them making new friends. I didn't get very many pictures, but I just had to share this one of John David and my mom.

Photobucket

And I'll just share one last story. I was on the computer yesterday getting caught up on emails from being gone all weekend. The kids were playing Harry Potter, and I heard John David say, "I'm the troll. You stick your wand up my nose." Um, no! Don't stick anything up anyone's nose!
  • scrappyhappymama
LOL. I could totally hear one of my boys making the troll/nose comment! Silly kiddos!

No items in nose, specially considering the history his dad and dad's sister had in the back of a car when they were his age.

Progress!

The floor in the new school room is coming along nicely! We've got the tile laid and there's just a few more things Jody has to do before I get to start moving in and organizing! That will give him something to do next week while the kids and I are gone, don't you think ;)

We all enjoyed having Jody's mom here for a few days last week. She came in Tuesday evening, Wednesday we watched The Tale of Despereaux (gotta love the free movies during the summer), and Thursday we took the kids to the park. She left Friday morning, headed to Houston, then to Lisa's.

Rebekah and John David had doctor's appointments on Friday. John David had not been checked since last August, so I was curious to see what his platelet count was. He's doing fine--251. What a relief!

Next week the kids and I are going to my parents. They'll stay with them while I head out to Tulsa for our Usborne National Convention! I always have a great time out there, meet so many new people, and learn so much. I'm looking forward to it.

Since I'll be gone for a while, I'll leave you with the words to one of my new favorite hymns. I catch myself singing it throughout the day, but what good words to be singing.

The Lord is My Light by C.E. Couchman

The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?
And He is my strength, the defense of my life. Whom shall I fear?
Have mercy, O Lord, and answer my cry. Turn not away.
For Thou art my help, the God of salvation. Turn not away.

Wait, wait, O wait on the Lord. Be strong and take courage! Wait on the Lord.
Wait, wait, O wait on the Lord. Be strong and take courage! Yes, wait on the Lord.

O Lord, lead me now in Thy path straight and even. Teach me Thy way.
I will not despair; Thy goodness sustains me. Teach me Thy way.
To dwell in His house all the days of my life: This shall I seek.
And, O to behold the Lord in His beauty! This shall I seek.

Wait, wait, O wait on the Lord. Be strong and take courage! Wait on the Lord.
Wait, wait, O wait on the Lord. Be strong and take courage! Yes, wait on the Lord.

The place is called The Orchard of Cross Plains. It's 6.2 from exit 112 off I-65. It's a really nice place. My roommates and I went there last year too.

This also is one of my favorite hymns.

More Birthday Fun!

I guess I can only post when someone is having a birthday ;) This time it's John David. My little man turned 4 yesterday! I'll have to post some pictures later. We need to leave soon to go to a summer reading program at the library. He enjoyed his day though. When we got home from Bible study last night, I told them all to go get pajamas on. Then I heard him ask Joshua, "Can I be the first one dressed, since I'm the birthday boy?" Just had to laugh.

The book fair was a lot of fun, and the kids really enjoyed my mom being here. (So did I, of course!) We behaved ourselves for the most part; only stayed up late one night talking. Now we're trying to get some work done this week before Jody's mom comes next week. We decided to make a schoolroom in the little room downstairs. So we've ripped up the carpet and are laying down tile. It used to be a garage, so we had to clean the concrete first, seal it, and hopefully tonight start on the tile. I can't wait for it to all come together!

Gotta run now, but I'll write more and have some pictures soon! Have a great 4th of July weekend!!!

Here's the pictures I promised of the "birthday boy":

And this one just says, "I'm up to something, looks like trouble!"

i saw what you wrote on erin's blog, and just so you know Ceomi is doing really well

    (this is her neice, btw)

her appointment this past monday was fairly uneventful in that they had no tests back, but she had a bone marrow biopsy that went well (just woozy from meds afterwards), and her infection is clearing up despite her not loving the antibiotics and how they treat her body. even though they aren't all pleasant, they are helping her heal, and there has been no negative news, and the doc should start weaning her off the anti-rejection meds in the next few weeks since the bone marrow transplant was 100% successful.

hope that eases your mind :)
