Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality.
It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions.
And the actions which speak louder than the words.
It is making the time when there is none.
Coming through time after time after time, year after year after year.
Commitment is the stuff character is made of; the power to change the face of things.
It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism.

I locked myself out of the house tonight. For the first time. EVER.
There was that moment before leaving where I think "I'm forgetting something..." and brushed it off b/c my water bottle was already in the car.
Then, there was that moment when you pull the door shut behind you and go "MY KEYS!!!!"
And in locking myself out of the house, I was locked out of my car too.
Thankfully, I had a very nice Momma who was only a few minutes away, and she turned around from going to basketball and let me back in.
Not my shining moment in history.

I saw this floating around on a blog earlier today and liked it...

This was passed to me earlier this week and it's been a good passage for me to mull over. See what you think...
From "A Return to Love" by Marianne Williamson
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you NOT to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

We've been absolutely saturated with rain in the last few weeks. I'm not complaining, we had two realllly dry years.
Another line of storms came through Friday around 4:00, just before we left work. So we're sitting there, eating birthday cake (happy birthday Kitty!) and hear a huge clap of thunder. But it wasn't thunder.
Half a tree fell on our office, right on top of Kitty's workspace. Then the power went out. It stayed out.
So far, we don't think it did major damage, but we'll see when we get in tomorrow.
Besides that, life's great! Enjoy the taste of autumn!
