First entry in 4 months??

With Facebook/Twitter/House/Work/More Work, I really only check into Pleo to see what a few people are up to. Don't post much at all on here, so if you have been lucky enough to have me post on your entry, consider yourself very fortunate!

Not much going on now that I am settling into my new house. I can actually walk all the way through the garage so a lot of progress has been made on emptying boxes. One wall is painted in the living room, and one wall in the kitchen. Slow and steady, right?

I must admit that I am kinda jealous of someone who quit their job and is moving to the country. One of these days... ah yes... one of these days a home in the country awaits me!

Is there life out there??

I think I need an update.

Not much going on right now. House hunt still underway.

I am getting myself into studying Evolution and Creation. Pretty scientific stuff so I hope I am able to fight through it and come out with a good understanding!

Well, that is about it. Carry on.

Is there life out there, somewhere she hasn't gone? Is there life beyond her family and her home? She's done what she should; should she do what she dares? She doesn't want to leave; she's just wondering, Is there life out there?

Check out apologetics press for some great materials. Also Ken Hamm's stuff. Favorite verse on the topic:
"for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." (Exodus 20:11)

You should teach the classes on evolution cause it i way over my head too. Look up The Privileged Planet by Gonzales. It is somewhat less sciency... I think I am just going to tell everyone Buddy Payne will cover it when he comes in October.

If I go the less "sciency" route, when I am talking to evolutionists they won't even listen... as I am finding out. lol I do have apologetics press bookmarked and visit it regularly. I'll have to check out The Privileged Planet though.

Discuss?

Several quotes are below. I know Pleonast has drastically diminished in participation lately, but if you read this, feel free to respond!

Chose a quote to discuss or discuss them all!

"There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, "All right, then, have it your way!""
C. S. Lewis

"People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them."

"You have not converted a man because you have silenced him."
John Morley

"When the ego dies, the soul awakes."
Gandhi

"When any government, or church for that matter, undertakes to say to it's subjects, this you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know, the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motive."
Robert Heinlein

    1) This is true! I spend too much time saying, "Have it your way!"
    2) Yeah, I'm not particularly interested in hearing Baptist doctrine. Sometimes Mormon is interesting, though. And, I'll sit and listen to some Asian/Indian religions, besides Muslim. I know that they're not going to change my mind, so listening to other "Christian" faiths is pretty dull. But, sharing views with other Christians is mostly interesting!
    5) And thus, we have: America. I've known a judge to say, "No, you can't read the law! I am the law! I'll tell you what it says!" Maybe that's not the way you meant this quote to come across, but Curt (or is it Kurt?) continues to pose political questions to me for a reason. :)

#2, I understand what you mean. A lot of us have grown up hearing Baptist doctrine whether from friends or from studies in Bible class. I do think it is important, however, to have an interest in it when talking to others about Christ. If they see you as uninterested then they too, will be uninterested and it will prove unfruitful. It is hard to do at times.
#5 All of these quotes I posted not to indicate whether I agree with them or disagree with them, just that I found them intriguing and thought provoking. I do agree that America has started down this path some time ago and we are only continuing down that path even further.

The United States no longer a super power?

I will try and get through this without getting interrupted by Kanye West. I posted this note on my facebook profile so I am sure some of you may have already seen it. I wanted to update my blog here with something "worthwhile" so here is my attempt.

There is so much discussion in our current political environment about how we should strive to show the world that we are such a nice country. We are lovable and easy to get along with. We want the world to know that we don't want to harm anyone and don't want to get on anyone's bad side.

I say ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

When the Israelites stood at the base of Mt. Sinai, they beheld the AWESOME power of God through earthquakes, great thunder and lightning, and great winds. They were afraid because of what they beheld.

I recall this not to say we want people to fear us and view us in the similar fashion that the Israelites viewed God. I recall this to say that the United States has a unique position in this world and if we don't take ownership of it we will become no different than Rome.

While the President wants radical and lunatic dictators to view us as equals who want to talk things out, I say he is clueless. I want the leaders of these countries to fear us because of our power and to know that we have absolutely no problem dealing justice to them should they deserve it. Right now they have no fear of us. It is evident by how Ahmadinejad talks to our President.

The United States has long been the leader of the free world and the lone super power. To relinquish that title is to relinquish our status and to tell our enemies that they don't have to worry about us anymore. The United Nations has done everything in their power to make radical dictators equal to those who seek peace and we, as a country, support them.

This, unfortunately, isn't an issue that is divided along party lines. We have allowed the United Nations to create whatever resolutions they want and if we disagree with them, it doesn't matter. We continue to contribute a lot, financially, to the U.N. despite their refusal to uphold resolutions against communistic nations. We continue to fund them despite them letting tyrannical dictators onto the United Nations SECURITY COUNCIL!

So I ask you, why should these dictators and terrorists fear the United States of America?

We put someone in office who wants to appease these people. He doesn't want to deal with these people, he wants to make deals with these people.

Until the United States becomes a feared nation by radicals, we will always be in danger of becoming obsolete. Stop extending the olive branch, Obama. They are collecting them and lighting a bonfire underneath us.

Unix85, if you have something valuable to add to this discussion, please feel free to do so. I do not consider vulgarities to be valuable to anyone or for any discussion. If you have better ideas on what can make this country better, feel free to share them, my blog is public, but your attacks won't be tolerated.

You say I am clueless but you haven't told me what I am wrong about concerning the United States of America.
