Cool pics! We'll be up there May 28-June 1. We'll have Friday, Saturday and Monday to see the sights of D.C., so hopefully we can make it to several places. Did y'all go to Arlington Cemetary?

I've never been in the elite before!

So, yesterday started as a normal day.... I got up late and did not even make an effort to get to work on time.

[Just Monday through Thursday last week, I worked at work all day, skipped lunch break (ate at my desk without leaving, still reviewing and answering emails) for at least two days, and then for three of those days, I worked several hours from home after I left work at 5:45 (I get off at 5:30).]

But yesterday was much more than an ordinary day.... I got to work around 9am (I was supposed to have been there at 830). I strolled around the building to see who had made it in for the day and to see what was going on, work-wise. Around 930, I am sitting at my desk, assessing the work for the day, when the owner's son stepped in and said, "Would you like to go to the Master's today?" I said, "Well, I have a conference call at 400pm, but I could be back by then, right?"

So, I woke Jeremy up (he got home from work at 200am) and he was so excited! We finally got to the Master's at around 1100am! We ate pimento cheese sandwiches, drank sweet tea out of souvenir glasses, walked the greens, ooohed and aaaahed at Tiger Woods and Vijay Singhe, made fun of other golfer's names (who ended up being famous golfers--they'd won previous Master't tournaments), wore blisters on our feet, spent a ton of money in the gift shop, and hiked back to our car so that I could make it back to the office for my conference call at 430pm (I had rescheduled for 430 -- the ppl on the other end of my conference call wouldn't let me cancel (and for the record, this call was a total waste of time. It only lasted 15 minutes and recapped the conversations we have every Monday at our scheduled conference calls; we'll discuss the same info on Monday when I return to work).

So, anyway. Hard work does pay off!

I am not a golf fan. I don't do golf or talk about it intelligently; but going to the Master's was so much fun! It was such a beautiful day! The grass is so green there! and the Azaleas were gorgeous! I can't believe that the Master's is held in Augusta, GA, just off of the main strip.... so literally off of the main strip that we parked behind a Publix grocery store.....

There is another world behind the gates of the Augusta National. If you get a chance to go, even for one day, do it. Call us when you come through; we'd love to see ya!

Hi, my name's Shannon. We've met before, in Jasper. Wayne and Doris are my grandparents. I forgot that you and Jeremy were in SC now. Dan Starr preaches in Ft. Wayne, where I live and Amanda lived there for a few years. I have been trying to keep an update on her dad. I will definately be praying for them as they try to get through this.

My first hairbow gig....

I have this posted to my Bows blog, but I thought that a few of you would also love to read and laugh as well. Happy reading!

Saturday Market is held in downtown Augusta, GA, at 8th Street and the River (Savannah River). August 9, 2008 was Kids Day, so I took this as my opportunity to setup my booth and sell some hairbows!

Of course, if you know my husband and I you know that there is an adventure with every outing that we attempt, and this Saturday was no exception. So Friday evening, I was supposed to have everything packed up and broken down, so that when my husband arrived home from work we could discuss whether I had overlooked anything or whatever.... Well, he got home and I was still making bows... and realized just before he arrived that I hadn't even eaten dinner yet--it was now about 9 pm.

So, he talked me into getting out for a moment and grabbing a bite to eat. We went through the Arby's drive-through and ate at home. We then decided to watch a bit of tv (like this was a smart idea!). So at about 10:15 pm, we decided to pack up the booth. Boy, we had that thing packed up in no time!

We talked about what time would be adequate time for us to get ready the next morning, and since the Saturday Market officially opens at 8 am, we decided that we would need to get up at 4:30 am so that we would have plenty of time to load the truck and get out there to setup. My husband set his alarm for 4:30. Well, I took a shower before bed and finally got into bed at midnight (and didn't sleep well all night... nervous I guess...).

Well.... I woke up and felt like I had gotten more than 4.5 hours of sleep... I rolled over and looked at my clock... it was 5:55 am! I started yelling and we hit the ground running! I just knew that there would be no way for us to make it out in time to setup the booth before 8 am. (We later realized that he set his alarm for 4:30 pm.... nice, hunh?)

We were speedily getting ready and loading the truck. Believe it or not, but I dried and straightened my hair and finished getting ready in 20 minutes! We arrived downtown at about 6:45 am, setup the booth, and priced most all of the items by 8 am. We had done it... and then we waited.

And we waited. It was somewhat of a slow go, but traffic picked up and soon we had covered the cost of the booth for day. And soon we were seeing a profit! The market hours were from 8 am to 12 pm. We started packing up the booth at around 1 pm because there were still people out and about.

I am so happy that my first hairbow gig was a success. I plan to setup again on October 18 for the special Fall Day. If your around, come see me!
