Mr. Leidy says, "Hmmmm..."

So after a week of no verbal contact between this one kid I used to date and me, finally a voice mail alert appeared on my phone from none other than that very kid. We'd had a bit of a fight in which I was jerk and said something most unkind in response to something unfair and almost unforgiveable that he was doing. I was not being very Christian-like and apologized multiple times which only furthered his annoyance. I guess the stress of my mom's illness and the woman-who-bore-her's incessant belittling and controlling got to me finally...but it still did not excuse it. So I gave that one kid a week or so to cool off and gave myself the same courtesy. I was determined not to call him and let him call me when he thought he was ready to talk. And lo and behold the voice mail. Since then, we have been playing phone tag. I call, he's not there, I wait, he calls, I'm not here, I call, and so on. One of these days.
Today my mother went to the doctor. This was quite a miracle in itself b/c mom has been so weak that she really couldn't go anywhere. I hope all this effort isn't in vain however.
Tomorrow is Lorraine's wedding. I'm excited b/c I'll get to hang out with Kristy and her family tomorrow and on Saturday. I miss having her right down the hall from me. Lorraine told me that she'll miss me bursting into their room asking, "Is Kristy here?" and when the response was "No" I'd say, "That hoe!" and then apologize for disturbing Lorraine. I still can't believe I have a friend getting married. I still feel like I'm 16 years old. In fact, I sometimes forget I'm not when someone asks me how old I am now.
I made a wonderful new fruit smoothie in honor of Miami's mango season.
Banana-Orange-Mango Smoothie
1 banana
1 cup orange juice
1 cup peeled, chopped mango
4 tsp. fat-free plain yogurt
2 tbsp. vanilla flavored soy protein or 1 tsp. vanilla extract
6 ice cubes
Throw it all in a blender and frappe' that baby. (Make sure your blender can crush ice. If not put the ice cubes in a durable plastic baggy and pound the cubes with a meat tenderizer.)
