In everything give thanks...
Just sharing thoughts I have recently had. In the midst of concerning news about many of my friends with health problems, many quite severe, and the way our own home often seems like an ambulatory care center, I have just been thinking about how much I have to be thankful for.
When I go to the kitchen and open the cupboards, there is food.
When I turn on the kitchen faucet, there is water.
When I flip the switch, there is electricity. (Most of time - summer in Alabama = thunderstorms and downed power lines.)
When I want to take a shower, the water is hot and I have soap.
When it gets dark, I have a bed. I am sleeping inside a house. No one is trying to harm me.
When I need groceries, I have a car that runs and the ability to drive to the store.
I know where my children and my husband are, and (mostly) what they are doing.
For the moment, our jobs are stable.
In my whole life, I have never been unaware of who God is.
I have always owned a Bible.
People who I don't even know love me because we are Christians.
When I am at worship, at the very same time, angels are praising the same God around His throne.
When Jesus was crucified, I was spared the death sentence I deserved for my sins.
If I kept working on this list, the world could not contain the books.
To look at that list and then grumble would truly be to show ungratefulness to God.
Let me invite you to make your own list and keep adding to it. Nothing is too small to include. You will never have any trouble praying if you consult your list and consider the alternative.
Since this is my first post since February, I might be gone again for a while. Thanks for checking in.
