Ok, so I'm not really debt-free, but I did just finish paying off an alternative student loan that I took out my last year at Western so that I could take a break from work. I still have some federal student loans, but I feel better knowing that they can be deferred if I ever decide to actually go back to school or do some crazy overseas volunteer work.

What else is going on...

*Rockband has effectively taken over the lives of myself and some other close friends here at GBCOC. Whitney has a natural knack for the drums. I prefer to rock it out on the guitars or belt out a crazy tune. This thing is seriously addicting. Our band the Skalleywags, from Amsterdam, has been rockin' out all over the world. But don't worry, Yardsale, this is only a side job and perhaps even a source of inspiration while I'm here in B-more taking a break from the band. You know Yardsale is my passion.

*I get to take a trip to Austin next month to see these peeps. I'm super excited to see them. It stinks that we moved out in opposite directions, but it is an excuse to visit other places... I also need to send you my flight info...

Guess who's already gotten their tax refunds!

Here's to being on top of things for once.

So, things have been busy the last few months here in Baltimore. Here are some highlights:

*My whole family came out to visit the weekend before Christmas. We all had a great time exploring Baltimore and D.C. and I got to show them where I work.
*New Year’s came and went. I made no resolutions. Last year's didn't go so hot so maybe I should restart those with a couple edits... But I did see some pretty rockin' fireworks.
*Went on a weekend excursion to western Maryland to celebrate a birthday, learned that tubing is not just something you do on water, and also learned that they’ll kick you out if you try stunts down the hill on your tube.
*Our dishwasher flooded our kitchen twice due to **brace yourselves** RATS chewing through a tube going from the pipe to the washer.
*Those same RATS crawled into the inner workings of our oven, built a nest, lived there, pooped there, peed there, probably roasted there, and in general made our kitchen smell just lovely. Needless to say we’ll be getting a new oven soon.
*My TV and my keyboard stopped working.
*One of our toilets is busted.

Work has been busy as well. I’ve got some stuff going on.
*I agreed to represent my unit on a department of surgery retention and recognition committee.
*I am working with a few other nurses on our unit in forming a Green Team to promote more environmentally friendly practices on our unit.
*One of my pt’s vomited poop.
*Another pt told me I had a beautiful face. Then in the same breath she told my tech he was fat.

Oh yeah, and
I’M GOING TO COSTA RICA!!!!!
For 3 weeks in May to study Spanish. I was able to take the time off from work, and I’m super excited!! I went to the post office today to get my passport so things are definitely underway! Anybody wanna see me?? Anybody have time off and wanna do some road-trippin'? After Thanksgiving I don't have to be back in B-more until Dec 4 and I have planned absolutely nothing. I'm wide open for suggestions....

Just have to pack and get throught one last grueling day at work tomorrow... Grr... y'all be thinking about me- I'm starting my journey home tomorrow night after work and that's a long drive...

Probably should be packing.... :)
