Well, over the past two weeks since Patrick lost his job, I have had the opportunity to do some substitute teaching. I've done elementary classes, middle school classes, and back to elementary. It's kind of fun, but I honestly don't know how teachers do it everyday. Teaching is a very demanding and unappreciated job. For the most part, I've enjoyed subbing. Today one kindergarten kid came up and hugged me and said "you smell good". Then they all started hugging me and telling me I smelled good for the rest of the day. A couple of them drew pictures for me that were pretty funny.
Patrick has had some good leads on a couple of jobs. We are still praying for a new job to come soon, and we are confident that God is in control of this situation and will take care of us as He has promised. We have all we need and feel very blessed to have such a family of Christians to support us with their continuous prayers. Life is Good!

Well, about 6 years ago, Patrick was laid off of his job and went through around 6 months of unemployment. This was about a year after 9-11. With our current economy, we were hoping that this wouldn't happen again; however, it has. As of Friday, Patrick is now unemployed and currently looking for work. Having gone through this before, we don't feel as helpless as we did the last time. We feel like we have things under control and I will be taking as many substitute teaching jobs as possible. We are putting our trust in God and knowing that all will work out in HIS time. Although I have much concern for our situation, I feel very confident in God pulling us through as He did before; therefore, I do not feel the stress or worry that I did the first time we went through this. There are so many others in the same boat with us. I ask that you all keep us in your prayers along with others who are out of work. I truly believe in the power of prayer and that it will make a difference in our situation.
Thanks so much for all of your concern.

Well, Courtlyn is all better and we are at the middle school band festival. Just wanted to brag and tell everyone that The kids had to audition last night to be placed in one of 8 bands. There are several hundred kids here. Courtlyn (who plays clarinet) made the HONOR BAND at MidFest. So out of over 100 clarinets, she placed 17th in her audition. YIPEEEEEEE! Jared also did well and made FIRST CHAIR in saxophone for the band he made. I'm so EXCITED for them. They are having a blast.
Their whole school will be performing tonight as one of the guest performance bands, so that is also exciting. What a great way to end a week of illness at our house!

Courtlyn is finally better. After a brief passing out episode yesterday morning, she started feeling better throughout the day and went back to school this morning. Thanks for your prayers.
Now we are off to the University of Georgia for the Middle School Band Festival. I will be going as one of the chaperones for 19 7th & 8th graders. We will be driving our personal vehicles with the kids in this nasty weather, leaving at 2:30 today and returning Saturday night. Patrick and John will come up Saturday afternoon to watch all the concerts the kids will be performing in. Please pray for our safe travels and . . .
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Could everyone please send up a quick prayer for Courtlyn. She has been sick for about a week and doesn't seem to be getting better. She missed 2 days of school last week. She went in yesterday, but was miserable. She tested negative for strep and the flu last week, but whatever she has seems to be getting worse. She is supposed to attend a big band festival at the University of Georgia Thursday through Saturday. She has been looking forward to getting selected for this trip for nearly 2 years and I just want her to get well so she can go. We will be going to the dr. again sometime today. Please remember her in your prayers.
Thanks so much!

We went back to the Dr. She still did not test positive for strep or mono; however, she now has pink-eye, an ear infection, and congestion, extreme sore throat and anything else that can go with a viral respiratory infection! YUCK!. She's on about 4 different medicines, and hopefully will feel better by Thursday morning. KEEP PRAYING FOR HER!

Besides, if you want to take care of a cranky 5-year-old who is sleep deprived, I'll be happy to stay longer on Wednesday nights!!! Plus, I watch episodes of shows I have missed online at hulu.com. :p
Got your heater fixed?
