Hey brother. I hope you see this. I just listened to your chapel talk from this morning. I gotta tell you man, you did a find job several years back when we all went to central FL with you (Winter Haven maybe?). But you have vastly improved and be it Norway or wherever you wind up, they will be a lucky group. Your message was very well laid out, quite approriate, and thoughtfully delivered. Keep it up brother. God bless.

Last Day In Norway

I have been in Bergen, Norway for the past 3.5 wks. I leave tomorrow to go back home (Manchester, TN). Please pray for them. At the earliest, Renee and I will be moving here in June. There is only 4 totally committed members and 2 others that are every now and then members. They live in an immoral society that is prideful in their independence from God and other nations. They have a great healthcare system; they will need it because of their permiscuity and drug use. As Sana says (a Thai member of the church in Bergen), "Heath, this is free-sex country. They even have a bed in the fire station that I clean so that the fire-men can have women there if they want." Renee said something like this, "In America, parents drop their kids off for soccer practice. In Norway, parents drop their kids off to their boyfriend or girlfriends house and make sure they have condoms before they get out of the car." May God help them to stand upon the solid Rock in this carnal nation.

Please pray that Renee and I will get approval from the government and the support we need to move in June.

Vote for Fred??? No way dude! This Christian's going for Ron Paul! :) In answer to your question, my schedule is so incredibly busy that I can't promise anything, but I have wanted to do just that for a while, so I will try to. I'll probably post it on my blog when done and ping you to let you know it's there. Appreciate your interest and willingness to discuss and consider a different viewpoint.

O saw you on his blog. I don't believe Ron Paul or Fred Thompson will solve the mess this country is in. I no longer look to Washington for solutions. If the heart of the people is not changed nothing will change. The very fact that a socialist like Hillary Clinton is even considered for president gives me little hope. The American people don't do anything until we get hurt. Perhaps a dose of Hillary is what we need because she will hurt us BAD.

  • jarrod
Yep, totally makes sense. I hear ya on that point. And on Ron Paul, I have my issues with him too, but given all the candidates I definately like him (or rather his views) best. Of course my view on war (especially the current one) as we were discussing does play into my political views a bit.
    by jarrod at 11/13/07 10:18PM

Hello

Fred08
Well, I haven't posted very often lately but I thought I would say some things before I leave for Norway on Monday. I have been looking more closely at the candidates this year than in the past. Actually, not as much as I would like. I am not a fan of politics at all. However, with the unfortunate and unwise path this country has taken, I feel it is important as US Citizen and as a Christian to be concerned with this election. As I grow older, I am more aware of the importance of Peter's charge to pray for our leaders and nation (I Peter).

Currently, I support Sen. Fred Thompson. His (as well as his wife's) views concerning National Security, Global Freedom, the war in Iraq, Marriage, Abortion, human rights, Family, Immigration and others are closer to mine than the other candidates. I believe Sen. Thompson is making the most rational appeals for these things.

I am not asking you to support him. I am asking you to look more closely at the candidates and make the decision for yourself. Never choose because you think someone else will "pick a good one." Consider also the importance and impact these things have concerning your Christian life. I am moving to Norway next year to preach the gospel. However, no matter where I live, the leadership and situation of the USA is important. It is my home and I believe in the values this nation was built on. More importantly, what happens in the United States does have an effect on every other nation. Think about it.

Please pray for me while I am in Norway. Drop me an email (newdaygtr@yahoo.com).

Thanks for the advice :) I use the ESV as my usual bible but I ended up finding an Archaelogical bible by Zondervan that is pretty neat. It's the NIV, but I'm reading the ESV text and then reading the study notes from the other bible...kinda complicated, but it works.

Our prayers will go with you,Heath. I am Alison Baker! I agree about Fred Thompson, and also his mother is a member of the church in Nashville and attended the last ladies weekend we had earlier this year. I would hope that her conservative beliefs have had some influence on his life and choices.
