Distractedly distracted

I'm a lazy bum these days! I find myself so utterly distracted I don't know what I'm to do with myself, where I'm going or what I'm suppose to be doing. I would rather sit and do nothing but think then actually get up and do something productive. The funny thing? I'm enjoying being distracted :) Now I'm heading into my work "week" so that will be a good excuse for me to do nothing else but go to work and perform the mind numbing jobs I am given.

I'm excited for Disneyland! I will say that as well, the sad part to that? It is still about three and a half weeks away! Well not much else is to be said about my current state of mind. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day! :)

OH, Hailey. I feel the way so many times!! Having kids makes you distracted...all the time. They want you to do something...you have to do something...you forget what you are doing LOL

Wow, I am so incredibly blessed! Isn't it funny how sometimes you are more aware of it than others? What does that, what makes me see that my life really is spectacular? Well for one thing, it is spending time with friends and brothers and sisters in Christ. You know I took that for granted once upon a time, then I moved to Idaho and it really helped me to see that I was truly blessed to have a family in Christ that was so large! This last weekend I had the opportunity to join some of those people on a trip to Globe where we were going to encourage a congregation that reminded me of Idaho (only it was about twice as big). It was a great trip and I got to know some people I hadn't previously spent a lot of time with.

I have a really great guy in my life right now. Mindle is truly someone I can look up to and respect in so many different ways. If you don't know him you are really missing out. He is just one of those people everyone likes and gets along with, he is truly a blessing in my life.

And here is a joke, made me laugh anyway.

Q: What color are raindrops?

A: Watercolors!!

Okay so at least it wasn't my knock-knock joke :).

Disney Store!

Okay so I had an exciting venture this afternoon. I went to the Disney Store and guess what? They are having 50% off everything!!! It was so cool! I actually bought a skirt, sweater, and baby outfit (for Alyssa) for $20 now if you've been to the Disney Store you know that is an excellent deal. However, that was the good news, the bad news, they are closing the Disney Store! Some cast members said permanently, some said for remodeling *tear* ;) I guess I'll just have to go to Disneyland instead!

So last night Mindle and I made dinner. Uncle Larry was nice enough to congratulate me on everyone surviving dinner. I was quite pleased myself, it would have been horrible to accidentally poison someone! I don't think our cooking skills are THAT bad but you never know :)

Today is Wednesday that means if you live in civilized places you go to church. I just wish it were a singing, I like singing nights. Anyway, I'm debating a nap, for some reason I'm really tired today and I would like to be alert for singing but it might be too late in the afternoon then I will be up even later tonight! Vicious cycle!

Well this was just a bit of randomness because I am rather bored right now :) Hope everyone is having a wonderfully, nice day!

I had this crazy dream last night that I was on an island with a bunch of FC people and you got attacked by what I thought was a jellyfish but turned out to be a small squid. Don't ask me what spurred my mind to dream of such!

Everyone has heroes, you know? Well last night I decided some of mine are Phil and April. They are a couple at church who constantly allow their house to be overrun with people. But they are always so nice and welcoming about it that as a visitor in their home you feel more like family. They are probably the most hospitable people I know, never inconvenienced and always welcoming. I hope someday to be like them. To know and remember so many things about so many people really is inspiring. I really can't say enough nice things about them. Whether they are providing a job when you searching for one, having people over, or inviting you to stay late and play UNO they are just the most genuinely interested and nice people I think I know. Just all around great people!

In other news, I have my NEXT Disney trip on the table! I think it will be May, a little further away than I was hoping but I guess I can't go EVERY month ;)

I agree about Phil and April! He helps us with the business on crazy days like today. He drove to California for the business today! How cool is that?!

So some of you will care and some of you not. But I was watching the news the tonight and California courts passed a ruling to make homeschooling illegal in the state of California (at least it is not known to cause cancer), to anyone who doesn't have teaching credentials http://www.citizenlink.org/CLtopstories/A000006717.cfm Check out this link please and if you are concerned about parental rights there is a petition at the end to sign through the Home School Legal Defense web page.

As for me I may now know what I want to pursue for a career...if only because one day I might want the right to teach MY children. Thank you!

It wasn't "the courts". It was one judge ruling on ONE case. The law has not changed. The HSC has already obtained council to have this ruling depublished.

Homeschool is still very much alive and LEGAL in California. We do NOT need hysteria fueled by HSLDA! The last time they did this we almost lost our right to homeschool. Please don't feed into their hysteria.

But you are still failing to overlook the problem that CA would face if this ruling is upheld - there are SO MANY schools with teachers that do not have the "proper credentials" that this ruling is IMPOSSIBLE to enforce.

Here is the legal brief:
It is clear to us that enrollment and
attendance in a public full-time day school is required by California law for minor
children unless (1) the child is enrolled in a private full-time day school and actually
attends that private school, (2) the child is tutored by a person holding a valid state
teaching credential for the grade being taught, or (3) one of the other few statutory
exemptions to compulsory public school attendance (Ed. Code, § 48220 et seq.) applies
to the child. Because the parents in this case have not demonstrated that any of these exemptions apply to their children, we will grant the petition for extraordinary writ.

What happened here is that the parents enrolled their children in an ISP, then taught them at home, thus violating the truancy laws of CA. Had they just licensed themselves as a private school, like thousands of other homeschooling parents do, this would not have been an issue in this case.

Further, CA judges have always been legally allowed to rule that a child attend public school instead of being home-schooled. Although it is legal to homeschool after a divorce or in a situation where the other parent does not agree with homeschooling, the ultimate decision as to whether you can homeschool your children may be up to the Family Law Court. The judge will make a decision based upon the evidence presented at the court hearing regarding what is in the child's best interest. Generally, courts tend to order that the children remain in the status quo.
