What's up with that?

I can't wait till the party this Saturday! If Jamie and I can pull this off it will be the best yet. You can bet I won't get any sleep Thursday night (since football is Friday night). I wish I had Jackie's tallent to put my costume together!

Well 2 more games and one more marching competition and the busy season is over! We sure have had a great time with High School Football and Marching Band but we all could use some much needed rest! I don't remember it being so busy when Joseph was marching. They have had marching competitions every weekend in October and one during the week! Ugh, what's up with that? I am too old for this.

This Friday the Band is hosting the Middle School Bands and it is always fun to see the young bands and remember Josh in 6th grade! It is also very nice to watch him as a freshman in High School marching with the band. I have enjoyed this first marching season and am sure I will be ready when it starts again next year.

I know your costumes will be great! I am going to write a receipt for this costume I am making Grace and she will owe me hugs and kisses for at least the next 30 years

Pondering

I have discovered that I love Macadamia Nuts! I bought the Cashew/Almond/Macadamia mix and find I am picking out all the Macadamias first! Unfortunately there are more Cashews and Almonds so I have to work my way through them to get to the good stuff. Isn't that how life goes? You have so many things to work through to get to the good stuff! I hope your today is filled with good stuff!
  • lefthanded
Bring the almonds and cashews home. I'll eat them.

Just a note from Camp

The actual note read:
Just wanted to let you all know that we're doing fine. Sunday arrival was good but we got a storm yesterday and things have gone downhill since. We're under a flash flood warning. The stream that runs through camp rose to about 4 feet and divided the camp in half. We had to abandon our camp and all the camp is situated near the admin area and all the boys are in tight quarters. We're all ok. I don't know if everybody needs to hear all the details but what matters is that we're all ok. It's been raining and raining. We're expecting more rain tonight and for the next three days. Camp crew was awesome and took care of us. Please let everyone know we're ok and things are fine. We're a little wet and tired.

Now as a wife and mother this is how I read it:
Just wanted to let you all know that we're doing fine. (good so far) Sunday arrival was good but we got a storm yesterday and things have gone downhill since (uh oh - glad we packed their clothes in bags to keep dry). We're under a flash flood warning (isn't warning worse than watch???). The stream (small bubbling water) that runs through camp rose to about 4 feet (now raging river) and divided the camp in half (the whole camp or their own camp - is Josh on one side and Jamie on the other?). We had to abandon our camp (I can see them all running from the rising water - did they get their footlockers too or are they floating down the raging river?)and all the camp is situated near the admin area and all the boys are in tight quarters(sleeping bags lined up as far as the eye can see). We're all ok (didn't you say that already?). I don' know if everybody needs to hear all the details (don't tell the other moms we nearly lost their kids) but what matters is that we're all ok (ok now I am getting really scared). It's been raining and raining (are you high enough?). We're expecting more rain tonight and for the next three days (shouldn't you just come home?). Camp crew was awesome and took care of us (were there any swift water rescues?). Please let everyone know we're ok and things are fine (this has been stressed way to many times for me to really be comfortable with it). We're a little wet and tired (and it's only Monday).

Please keep Jamie and Josh and all the boys camping in west Texas in your prayers. I'm sure they will have stories to tell when they get home. No more updates thus far - there is only one computer and one line and no phone access so information is slow to come. Yeah for wilderness camping!!! UGH!
  • smallville24
    Wow, sounds adventurous!!

That is why I'm a girl. Let's hear it for hotels!!!
    by anutty at 07/01/09 6:08PM
  • bandmom
Yikes! If it's any consolation, Keith says the most memorable camping experiences and the ones where he and the boys learned the most was when things "went wrong" (flash floods through their tents and other delights)....

I did hear from the campers tonight - they are back at their campsite and the outside world has access to them once again. The adults are looking for a little siesta time, but sound like they are ALL OK!

Lol! I'm glad that they're okay. I'll pray that they stay safe.

It always rains when there is a camp, but this is ridiculous. My girl scout troop actually earned their hotel camping patch as well as the duck patch for rain camping--it's a law. We'll be keeping them in our prayers.
    by wildpeachem at 07/03/09 10:22AM
  • mb1020
I think it is required for it to rain (possibly even a lot) when a Scout troop is camping. I went to Horse Camp (nerdy - I know) and it rained -- although that could also be because we were in Houston. I'm glad they're ok, no swift water rescues necessary! :D

A Great Day!

Well, I figured it was time to post an update. Today was Doctor day! The day we talk about the results of all the tests and our plan for the future. Everything turned out wonderful! My tumor markers are lower than they have been in years - the tumors in my lungs are stable in comparison to the last scan and better than they were in May 2007. I am basking in the warmth of knowing God is in control and is taking care of me! I always wonder how people go through trying times without the comfort God provides. When I feel that out of control fear waiting to hear about test results, I hear Him say "be still and know that I am God..." I know whatever comes in the future for me on this earth - my home is in Heaven and I will be very glad to see it!

Don't get caught up in the whirlwind of this world - remember to just be still and feel His peace!
