Sweet Potatoes

Partially due to neglect / forgetfulness and being told not to dig up my sweet potatoes until the vine had died, I ended up digging up a couple huge sweet potatoes the other night. The largest one is 4.9 pounds and the second one weighing in at 3.7 pounds. The two 'smaller' potatoes were 1.1 and 1.3 pounds. I baked one of the 'smaller' ones tonight for dinner and had to eat it in two sittings.

Fall seems to be here now. The leaves are in their peak and falling. The air is nice, cool, and crisp.

I'm lovin' the smell of pumpkin bread coming from the kitchen right now. Also looking forward to the plain white bread and cinnamon raisin bread that will be baked in the morning. I think I just love the smell of bread.... :)

Happy Fall!!

Yes, the accident was near Mansfield. This was one of three or four multi-car pile-ups across the state that weekend. For as bad as this one sounded and for the number of miles it caused the freeway to be shut down, I think I heard there were no serious injuries. There was one in Cincinnati where a girl was killed. There was another in the Dayton area, no sure of the condition of folks in that one. Then I think there might have been another one in the Cleveland area. Sounds like you all made it home without incident? Glad for that.

Forgiveness Prescription

A friend recently posted and I thought I'd share.

When you are offended, it hurts. You feel angry, your emotions rise, you feel pressure and your emotions inevitably go into attack and defensive mode.
If you don’t gain control of your emotions, you will give the devil an opportunity (Romans 12:19) to take you further into the whirlwind of emotions and unforgiveness –which will ultimately lead to bitterness and wrath (Ephesians 4:31). If you want your conscience to be clear of offense between God and man (Acts 16:24), this is the prescription to overcome it:

1). Pray for them- even if you don’t feel like it.
And pray for yourself not be overcome and consumed with anger.

2). Stop talking about them. If you must get the offense out, talk to a spiritual person who wants to help you overcome the offense and make up your mind to stop talking about them to other people. Guard your mind when it begins to rehearse what happened (Proverbs 4:23).

3).Bless Them. That just means to invoke a blessing on them. Just ask God to bless them today. Pray for an opportunity to bless them (1 Peter 3:9). Believe the best about them. When you are doing this, this is for you to get the anger out of your heart.

A. Adjust yourself to people. (Romans 12:16)

B. Live above reproach and wait on the Lord. (Proverbs 20:22)

C. Keep conscience clear of offense. (Acts16:24)

D. Overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:20-21) Proverbs 25:21,22)
"Burning coals of fire on someone’s head" is just love poured out on them to melt a hard heart. You pray for them and then you stand ready to meet their need. Your heart is free and clear. You’re walking in love now ready to overcome evil with good.

"love poured out on them to melt a hard heart" - I thought that was a good way to look at it.

Glad to see you light up the screen. Love you sweet girl!

Sometimes You Just Need to Get Away...

My weekend starts when I clock out tomorrow from work :) It's been a while since I've had five days off in a row but it is greatly needed. It will be nice to get away from the day to day routine and visit family. My parents and I are heading to Ohio Thursday and then making a day trip to Niagara Falls on Friday. We will spend the rest of the weekend visiting family in Ohio.

What are your plans for Labor Day weekend?
  • teelside

Gotta Love It...

the weather that is. It's been beautiful the past few days. I've had the a/c off since Sunday night since it's been in the high 60's at night and low 80's during the day. And it hadn't been too humid. (Also hoping this helps keep our electric bill down)

I was able to get the garden planted almost two weeks ago. Everything looks to be coming up nicely, except for the corn. It looks like either the rabbit or squirrels I've seen are digging it up. I've never had this happen before. I guess I'll till that section up again and replant.

We had another crazy thunderstorm pass through tonight as I was going to Bible study. There were a couple lightening bolts that came down pretty close to where I was driving. Kinda scary yet neat at the same time. I am thankful for the rain. So many complain about the rain but I find it very refreshing and it's essential to growing a garden :)

There are so many that are in need of our prayers. Not only remember those who are dealing with health issues, but also for their families and those taking care of them.

Smile!!! :)

You're right ... rain is good. In moderation. Currently (August 26th), the East Coast likely will get more than their share of rain. Estimating as much as 14+ inches where Irene makes landfall and heads inland. Uh oh ... that's a bit much.

Florida!

Thank you all for your comments on my last entry. I appreciate everyone's thoughts on the issue. Of course, I do have opinions and they are just that, opinions. And I can't tell others what their kids are to do during worship.

This week, Mr. Bill Hall has been holding our gospel meeting for us. His lessons have been simple to understand. Makes you wonder why so many people make the Bible something hard to understand. It doesn't make sense that our Creator would make us and then have a law for us to follow that we can't even understand. If you'd like to hear any of the lessons from the meeting, you can go to www.westendchurch.com and get the mp3 files.

Apparently, some think it's crazy I've never been to Florida. But, Lord willing, this Thursday through Saturday, I will be in Florida. We (my parents, a friend, and I) will be staying in Daytona but going to Cape Canaveral Friday for the Endeavor shuttle launch. Hopefully, the weather will be cooperative and the launch happens. If not, it will be a nice little vacation :)

Hope you're having a great week!!

Enjoy your trip!! For the record, I don't find it odd that you have never been to Florida ... Louis has been all over the US and never made it to Fla until a couple of years ago.
