I'm utterly flabbergasted,

at the responses I have gotten!

First things first, thank you so much Robert for being kind enough to shove people my way. I'd do one of those rad linking name things, but I have yet to figure out how.

I guess I did not disclose enough information about myself in previous passages, but I would prefer a certain level of anonymity. Of course, I have already given you my name, so that may not make sense to a lot of you all. I will just tell you, I currently reside in Canada. Yes, I've been to the states numerous times. Yankee accents disgust me, hah. (Insert your favorite little emoticon here that everyone seems to be SO very fond of.)

On a different note, with spring in the air, its time to dust off some of the ultimate Frisbee gear. Maybe a little rugby too, eh?

EDIT:

I would also like to say, it's cute when you hear a 3rd grade tell a 2nd grader, "Kid, second grade is nothing. Wait till you get to third!!" But it's sort of disheartening to hear, "Forget about college, it doesn't prepare you for the REAL world" or "School doesn't matter, no one looks at that stuff." I mean, goodness, what am I WORKING for, then!? And even more so to hear and elderly person say, "Just wait till you get to be my age, eh?" As good as their intentions are... I find those phrases in no way comforting.

If we continue to discredit every preceding event in our short insignificant lives in favor of longing for future success in the proceeding ones, what will remain to take pride in?

Let's say "Good luck" instead of "That's nothing".

Hey Gian! My name is Daniel, and I am a 21-year-old senior music major at a college in Tampa, Florida. True thing about the lady friend. (I'm referencing your first post, but putting it here so you'll actually see it.) We seem to be in a few of the same groups, so I thought I'd say hey and welcome to the 'nast!

well, my principal instruments are voice and piano (which means I'm giving two senior recitals this week - yuck), but I'm looking for an MM program in Choral Conducting. That's what I really want to do.

lol. i dunno, i don't feel like college is really benefiting me much. except with a degree so i can get a job. maybe the life experience too but it's lacking in the book/knowledge/learning/academia area. i guess i read too much before school...i haven't learned all that much. i just feel like i'm relearning everything i learned in high school! definitely frustrating! where in canada are you, if you don't mind me asking. i used to go to summer camp in alberta...it was june and would get SO cold at night! i love south texas...where i'm at right now. nice and warm. have a good night!!!

A rant on emoticons

You know what?

I've been pondering emoticons lately.

Many of us, I'm sure, have used this emoticon: ":P" or "=P" or maybe ":-P" possibly even "=-P".

Now tell me, realistically, if you're having an enlightening conversation with someone, crack a joke, and suddenly stick your tongue out of the corner of your mouth, what are they going to think? Have you ever tried? I have. And they aren't going to think you're joking. In fact, a safe assumption would be far from that.

Emoticons are silly. Therefore, I hearby refuse to use them.

I don't have any friends on here yet... I heard some people talking about it, but now I'm more than confused. I tried to join a group, I guess thats how people make friends? I suppose I'll stumble upon someone I know eventually...

I am so tempted to use an emoticon here!
Instead I will make all kinds of faces while I am typing. I just winked but you only know that because I told you, and refrained from using the emoticon.

    wow, does my face hurt.
and HI, I'm Sarah. Robert told me to come here and I do everything Robert says (insert wink here).
Hope you like pleonast ( smiling)

Hey

Hello everyone,

My name is Gian Beckett. Pronounced just like "John Beckett". I don't know what my mother was thinking when she gave me my name, but I like it.

I'm a 23 year old senior at university working on a music education degree.

Unfortunately, such a major has left me with no time for a lady friend.

Holla at me?
