all the playing's stopped in the playground now

yesterday a cactus fell on me in the gardening section of ikea, and i reflexively put out my hand to catch it
resulting in my left palm and wrist doing a very impressive imitation of a reverse porcupine.

as i was pulling the needles out of my hand later
nate said, "you didn't have to catch the cactus, peni."
and i said, "yeah. it's kind of a metaphor for my life."

in other news, angry birds
(the game....not...actual...birds that are angry)
has infested our household.

it really is a ridiculous amount of fun.

this is going to be a busy week
and there are some very exciting things going on
that i will be telling you about in the next few days
so make sure you swing back by for the update.

Angry Birds infiltrated our home this week. We have one iPhone. One of us mans the controls while the other tries to make helpful suggestions regarding trajectory. We probably look/sound like idiots: practically piled on top of one another, squinting at that little black hand held device and then bouncing excitedly or trying to lean ourselves far enough to affect the fall of those little boulders, etc. We are enjoying Angry Birds. :)

Emma Bingham did that once. She commented that she like cacti, and I said, "Why?" Her response: "I had a bad experience with one. It fell off a shelf in Walmart and I caught it."

What's this trend of knocking dangerous plants off shelves in stores and catching them?

Btw, I was uncovering yet MORE of my college notes over Christmas at my parents, and I found all our old Intellectual History papers! (Why I saved them, I'm not sure...)
