it's always bothered me

I can't stand it when someone says "I could care less." That isn't saying anything! The correct phrase is "I couldn't care less" indicating that the amount of care is already as low as possible. The former implies that the speaker does care somewhat (though without a point of reference could mean a copious amount or nominal). If you, reading this, are one of those people saying it wrong, please think about it and rectify your mistake!
Peace be with you

Something I hate hearing, when people say ATM machine, or PIN number. You know how redundant that is? ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine, so they are saying Automated Teller Machine machine. PIN stands for Personal Identification Number, so they are saying Personal Identification Number number.

that's what i'm talking about!...although, honeslty, i sometimes have to make a conscious effort not to say PIN number

Or when someone says 'so-and-so or such-and-such made a 360 degree turn for the better (or for the worse)'. They must not know geometry very well, because if you go 360 degrees, you're back where you started. You're supposed to say 180 degrees, the opposite where you started.

answer me this

Why do people say "Happy New Years"? Isn't there only one at a time? I understand the New Year's Eve, but so often people say New Years. If it were New Year's Day, that would be fathomable, but who says that?
  • godswarrior32803
I don't. I have always said, Happy New Year.

how i look

I was at work last week when a courier walked up to me and asked "Horde or Alliance?" Not knowing the reference, I tried to figure out what he could mean; Accord or Lance? I know the Honda Accord, but the other one...? so finally he cleared it up for me. Many of you out there already know what I'm talking about: World of Warcraft. I have never played. I don't want to play. All I see about it is that it is so addictive. I had to inform this dude that while i do like to game, my gaming involves shooting people in Modern Warfare 2. I told him that most of my college buddies were big into WoW, but I never caught the bug. But I couldn't help but wonder what made him assume I would know what he was talking about (we'd never spoken before and he doesn't deliver to us regularly). The only explanation is that I look like the kind of guy who plays role playing games. Wouldn't you agree that there's a certain stereotypical look associated with "those" kinds of games? Apparently I match that description. That is not to say everyone who plays looks like a geek, but you know sometimes you see someone and assume you know one or two of there hobbies just by the looks of 'em. Keeping in mind that he asked this because he himself is a player and I would not have guessed it by his appearance, but in later conversations he let it be known that both he and his wife are avid players and that she is even much better than himself. It was a little frustrating that there was someone that potentially could have made for good conversation on the subject of video games but he turns out to only play Warcraft and I only play first-person shooters. That means anything either of us talks about goes over the other's head and out of the reach of care. My only experience with that kind of game is Gauntlet and that was 10 years ago and not online.
Well I have to take my son (nearly 2 now) to the dentist to see if she thinks he needs a repeat frenectomy. Wee!

More then a year later...

It's super bowl night at about 1:00 am. I can't sleep. Partly because i'm sick, partly because i ate too much at the super bowl party, and partly because i'm sad about the outcome of the game. Anyhoo! My son, Jonah is about 14 months right now. He's been walking since about 10.5 months and though he doesn't say any real words, he chatters an awful lot. Of course, that's not a complaint.

I'm still working for Quest Diagnostics, but now i'm full time and work in a different department. this is the first company that i've worked for that does profit sharing and i get my first bonus check next month. hello, LCD!

Raquel is in her fifth year of teaching elementary music. The principal has not ever been a great supporter of the arts, but she retires this year so hopefully the next one will be better. She performed with Benji Payne and other alums the week before lectures. She did great playing her flute. Of course, everyone else did a great job too (including Jonah who sat quietly during almost the entire show) and the finale was funny. If anyone is able to get their eyes one a video made of it, watch it and send the link out.

Last night I played some Modern Warfare 2 online with all of my brothers. One of which living in California and one living in Hawaii...the third living very close by here in Temple Terrace. None of the others had ever played the game before so I beat them all mercilessly. I had a great time. I think they did too despite their constant losses. Finally glad to see I'm the best in my family at something...even if it's at something nerdy and arguably "not good for you."

I should try again to go to sleep. I'm sure Jonah won't let me sleep in too much in the morning. Obviously I'm not on here much, but if anyone wants to contact me, my email is kevin_and_raquel@hotmail.com and my cell number is 813-956-6153

So tired!

I got laid off at CarMax in October. We had our baby in November (shortly after I got two lesser-paying jobs) so now I work between 60 and 80 hours a week. That is, until Raquel goes back to teaching in February, then I plan on quitting or at least going on leave from the day job so's I can be with the baby during the day whilst mommy is working and she'll be with him at night when I'm working. The down side is that neither job is doing x ray and with this baby schedule it's impossible to look/find a job doing x rays to allow for us to do things this way

If I can help with the baby in any way, please let me know. I can even babysit while you interview. Just wanted you and Raquel to know I am here if you need me.
