Please pray for my mom as she has her next CT scan next Wednesday, January 21. Specifically..we hope that her spots have not grown or spread. Otherwise, she may have to do chemo in the near future. Anyone that knows her, knows what a trooper she is and is very determined to beat this.

I've been thinking lately of doing some sort of fundraiser to help raise some money for more research. So if anyone has ideas or has done that sort of thing before, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
On a lighter note, "a" mouse was caught in the attic inside of greyson's closet but from the description given by my brother (the lucky one to retrieve its nasty, dead carcass) it didn't sound like the same color that amber and i saw. So I'm still jumpy at every noise...and sights. For instance, Greyson has this one plastic animal (I think it's either a rhino or hippo) and apparently he had left it on the floor next to my bed after I had done a floor inspection, my nightly ritual before hopping in bed, because I know I wouldn't have left it there if I had seen it. Well, come 4:45am alarm, I turn the light on to go turn the alarm off and before I touch the floor, I do a quick, half-blinded scan of the floor JUST IN CASE. Well, of course I see something lying there on its side that wasn't there when I went to sleep and I just KNEW the mouse had died in my floor. I was frozen with fear, not knowing what to do. So I started calling Blake to have him come inspect. I finally mustered enough courage to make two huge leaps from my bed to the door and went downstairs to wake him up since he wasn't answering his phone. Needless to say, he wasn't real thrilled with me waking him up that early. As he came back downstairs to give me a full report, he flung it at me and told me to put my glasses on before waking him up to pick up one of Greyson's toys off the floor.

I can just see him grumpily throwing it at you! *L* I'll help with a fundraiser, but I have no idea how to even get something started...maybe Scott (are you reading this?) would have suggestions??? -
I'm currently planning for my fourth benefit concert for the ACS. Its been rewarding but also exhausting. I would contact local reps for one or more of the cancer research orgs. I'll warn you though - they don't help a whole lot in year one. They kind of allow you to do your own thing and prove that you're serious about helping out. There are also a lot of existing fundraisers you can participate in. I don't have a lot of suggestions as to how to raise funds. I'm pretty much good at one thing, so I chose that to be my avenue of fund raising. Hope your mom's CT scan shows no growth! -

You hope it's just your eyes adjusting or maybe even a way too early to be awake hallucination...BUT you know what it is. Denial only works so long before you start trying to figure out what you can stand on so your feet aren't touching the ground. I just know the hateful thing is peering at me in its hidden place, waiting for me to go to turn the lights out so it can terrorize my room while I attempt to sleep!!
Sooooooooooooo.....any suggestions on how to get rid of a mouse without having to see or touch it? Please note we are all allergic to cats (but it's almost worth the sneezes if it means it'll get rid of the sucker).

Oh, my. That does NOT sound like fun. I must say I would go with a trap. You have to see him, but at least you know when the sucker is taken care of. :) Good luck, and I hope Santa brings you something better than that!

there are a lot of people that take the wrong things way too seriously. in the end it is only a game and you have to remember that.
the trip went good. the singing at fry rd was greatness. too bad you weren't not able to make it.
spent 5 hours saturday with a group of friends at the galleria mall. i don't think there was a single night that either one of us got to bed before midnight or later. which is kind of why i didn't make it to decker prairie. we sacked out sunday afternoon and woke up with just enough time to make it to southside. the next time i'm in the houston area i promise to make it over to decker prairie. -
I've seen that picture before, it does say more than words can express...but it doesn't tell if he is a married man whose spouse did her part in supporting him, and it doesn't show her missing him, or his children missing him or his mom missing him.etc... but it is a very nice snap shot of a minute of his life and the service he has given to continue to enable our country to keep it flag and all united, one nation under God, indivsiable, with liberty and justice for all. Appreciate you remembering.

well that was fun
just letting everyone know we got power AND water back around 5 oclock this evening. we got a head start on losing electricity- at 9:30 Friday night BEFORE the storm hit. thankfully, we dont have a lot of damage- mostly just our backyard fence and lots of tree limbs, but nothing to our house. and of course we are all safe! our area of town isn't as bad off as some other parts of the city. how do i know this? because we needed some air conditioning time and would drive around and check out the damage around us.
