My Hero

So my helpful husband was assisting me in hanging the snowflakes from the ceiling in front of the fireplace and had the ladder out. Cinnamon (the cat) clambored to the top of the ladder and draped himself over it and looked all cute for a while. That was amusing. But then he realized he was very close to the mantle and with just a little jump he could make it! So he did. Unfortunately there was no room for him there as it was loaded with the glass stocking holders. Thaxter's is this beautiful frosted and clear stag. As Cinnamon jumped the stag slipped...and my hero husband flew across the room in time to catch it in mid air! It was saved ... and so was the cat.

Well, I'm glad that the hero could save the day--stories are always better when that happens.

Hello Mrs. Dickey! I saw your previous post about someone asking about undiscovered caves..I worked at a library and one day a lady came in asking for sound recordings of dinosaurs. yes, real dinosaurs. hope you're enjoying your break!

Hey Wanda, Becci here. How's it going? Has it been a good year so far?

No - so far you've liked me too much to get "really mad" at me. I must be endearing when I'm loud, or something similar. How, I don't know...

Would Cinnamon like a little gray companion? She's sweet...a little wild, but sweet.

The cat's out of the bag...

The cat's in my lap
And purring so sweet
It's a marvelous feeling
He's back on his feet!

I was at sunday lunch with a bunch of kids at the Kercheville's and Seth Warren mentioned something about one of your kids, and I think it was Alicia (Cruz) Kercheville who said she went to school with you, and suddenly I burst out, "I LOVE MRS.DICKEY!!!" I couldn't restrain myself. It got kinda quiet and they all kinda looked at me funny.

I think that could be an excellent idea. And I also think that if you decide to do it, you need to post photos of it. I guess it all depends on how many leaves your trees already have...

Worrying about the cat...

There once was a cat named Cinnamon
Who followed the dog like a gentleman

His tail was puffy, yes fluffy
Just like his friend dogs was furry

They held their tails the same
It was their claim to fame

So they played and fought
And slept and … naught

Until one day they were interrupted
By an illness the cat succumbed to

So the cat’s at the vets
With the other sick pets

And the dog whines and looks
For the cat that sat on books.

And we don’t know what they’ll come to.
  • jra
Oh, I hope Cinnamon's doing ok...he's such a beautiful, sweet cat.

Very nice Mrs. Dickey. It almost makes me like a cat. Just to know the comradery that snoopy feels towards his feline friend. The cat probably doesnt even care but snoopy does.

Cinnamon was very weak but is regaining strength slowly. Snoopy is back to normal trampling on the cat as he walks by.

Hi Wanda - I just followed you here from someone's blog and I love your poem. Craig's grandmother used to have a cat named Cinnamon that I'd given her. (he was a bobtail). I hope he is better now!

Is this "that moment?"

If you know me well, then you know a favorite movie of mine is "While you were sleeping." Lines from the movie are appropriate in conversation on many occasions. My admonition for this post is to mimic Paul when he says in Philippians 4:11 "for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content."
