Enjoying every minute

Of summer break! I made it through AP exams, finals, and craziness! Glad to be done with my last "normal" year at the high school. As a senior, I will only go half-days, AND I get to graduate at semester! Taking extra classes past summers definitely paid off.

Well, I just love summer! The other day we went cherry and blueberry picking at an orchard near us! I found out that I like mullberries..who knew? :)

I learned how to play this really fun card game called Mao. It's basically like uno, except you can't discuss any of the rules! A couple of the cards have special rules that you have to figure out, and once you get to zero cards, you say "mao" and then get to make your own rule--except you can't tell anyone what it is, and when your it applies and someone doesn't do it, you give them a card. For example my friend made one when you put down a red card you had to compliment his beef brisket. Ha, I heard "Adam, I like your brisket" about 1000 times. :) It sounds crazy and it was! Has anybody played this game before?

I've been praying recently about getting a job, before FC and all, and I thought my prayers were answered when I got one teaching tennis, but then I was offered two more today, one that I didn't even apply for! Wow, the Lord gives in abundance. Way beyond what I hoped for!

Have a blessed day!
(: Evelyn

That's awesome that you're planning on coming to FC!! That happens to be the same year as when I'm gonna be going! FC is a very good choice, and I know you'll enjoy it. That's exciting. I really like getting to know the people that are going to be going the same year as myself, and perhaps becoming close friends before actually getting there.

We treat it like it was the actual day, pretty much. My family is very relaxed when it comes to birthdays. We acknowledge that it's not the end of the world if we don't get it on the actual day, but as soon as we do that, it just ends up taking forever for us to get around to it. Haha, we've even had seven family member's birthdays on the same day at one point ('cause it was most convenient). Most of the member's birthdays were more than a month previously. That's our largest group birthday party we've had so far, I doubt we'll get a higher number than that.

I mainly enjoy listening to movie soundtracks for music, in general, but music I play varies pretty widely. I don't play any pop stuff though, I'm not a huge fan of pop. I play video game music, classic music, and movie soundtracks transposed to piano. This is pretty much my favorite piano song in the world though:

I haven't "written" many songs; I've got little tunes that I play, but I wouldn't really call them songs, they are more like jingles or something; no real structure.

I'm Homeschooled, so I don't exactly have a strict school schedule. I plan on doing school through the whole year, that way any days I miss unintentionally don't count against me too horribly.

As for Mao, that sounds like a lot of fun, but I've never played it.

We have a ton of mulberry trees up at my family's country house in Indiana.

Hey, Evelyn! First, thank-you for your comment about my blog! I'm glad it had some thoughts that might be helpful. :D Secondly, you must be a fellow Poor Bear fan. Whereas I'm not especially hardcore, I must say, Tigger is awesome. Even if Brian says he's self-absorbed. You can't help but love Tigger (they are, after all, wonderful things and he's the only one). He just loves life and he's crazy goofy! Thirdly, are you going to FC this august? If so, that is my goal too! We'll get there! I hope your job goes great!

Hey, Tigger was my favorite at one point too! I only say "at one point" because it's been forever since I went back and read the books; in other words, I'd have to go make sure. The part about him being self-absorbed was only an observation about the deeper meaning of the books (deeper meanings are awesome).

pleonast is cooler!

Well after forgetting my password for 2+ years..
I just wanted to say that I always liked pleonast! It was so cool to connect with camp friends the whole year! It would be cool if my siblings were able to do this also..but nobody really gets on anymore. :'( This site brings back good memories! :)

oh, it's 41 days until camp and I am extremely excited. Me and a lot of other MO camp kids are going to Arkansas camp this year, so I'll be able to go to 2 camps! I am so blessed!

Well, that's about it!
love, ofvalyn

    Hello!
    My name is Julia. :)
I know the Works Family!! :D

Hey, I (like julia, above) saw your comment on Micah's profile (I know the Works family from Leadership camp). If you want more active friends on Pleonast, I get on pretty frequently and I'd love to get to know you a bit.

As I'm sure it might be uncomfortable to befriend a total stranger, here are some facts about me:

    My name is Brian.
I see one of your groups (or group) is is an FC camp group. If you happen to remember a "Travis Peterson" as one of the FC camp friends (either last year or the year before), he's my brother-in-law.
I enjoy playing the piano a lot.
And you happened to write this Pleo post on my birthday!

Haha, no problem about the late birthday thing. My family takes forever to celebrate birthdays. We actually still haven't celebrated mine yet, but don't think that's a long time to wait, it took us six months to celebrate my older brother, Philip's, birthday.

I've been playing piano for about seven or eight years now, but half of that I haven't had a teacher, 'cause we moved to Florida in 2005, so I've been teaching myself these past few years.

Yeah, it wasn't too hard to figure out. I found your profile name pretty clever actually, "Evelyn Eleven."

That's cool! I don't know a whole lot about tennis, aside from the Wii sports game of it!

I asked Travis, and he says he's never been to Missouri camp, which is unfortunate; that would've been a pretty cool coincidence!

I love coincidences like that! I've figured out that the three greatest connections between people I know are Florida College, Homeschool camp (even though I've never been) and Leadership camp. I think you could add FC camp to the list, so I guess it's really the four greatest connections. I don't know about you, but I find it all fascinating.

I don't suppose you're planning on going to Florida College at all, are you? FC doesn't have any tennis.
