So the big change I mentioned is this: I submitted my resignation letter at work. My last day will be July 31. The evening of August 1 we will be heading to Lake Charles to see my folks and then on to Houston for the Kleinwood singing. The plan is to return on the 13th or so. I don't have a job lined up just yet, so it's a little scary, but financially we will be okay until I get a job at the hospital as a CNA. It was just time to leave here. Overall it's a good company that I still recommend friends to apply to, but I have some frustrations that just were not being resolved with my specific unit. The main reason for the change is that in order to get back into the RN program I am now required to have a part-time job (no more than 25 hours a week). The timing is mostly due to the vacation. I'm really excited to spend my dad's 61st and my son's 1st birthdays together!
So yeah, big change, but overall it will be a positive one. Here's to the future.
...that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof was to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools."
I'm reading through the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide for the 5th time.
Completed my CNA course, and waiting on a test date.
I'm about to make a big life change. But I think ultimately it will be better for me and my family even if it is a bit scary. More on that later. Until then, live in suspense.
the nickname thing was a bust, but oh well, I applaude y'all for your efforts.

Gotta love random Weezer lyrics.
So far only one entry for nicknames. Still fishing for more; hence no comments allowed on this post :-D
I can't wait for August!! The plan is to go West to be at the Kleinwood singing on 08/03, then spend Sean and Papa's birthday (08/08) in Louisiana, spend my birthday (08/13) same place, then head home. It's been too long since I've been to the Kleinwood singing and Meagan has never been. I told her it's something everybody should do at least once!
Mass Effect is in a tie with Portal 2 for the best videogame I've ever played. I really loved Bioware's "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" on the original xbox. Since Mass Effect is also an RPG, also set in space, and also made by Bioware it feels like a perfect big brother of KotOR... just minus the lightsabers. I love making choices and seeing them play out in a significant way down the road. Mass Effect takes that idea and runs with it! The choices you make about who lives and who dies, or whether or not to make a race extinct carries over into the 2nd and 3rd titles! Amazing! Now don't get me wrong, Portal 2 is a blast! What with amazing physics, thinking three-dimensionally, innovative co-op mode, and sarcastic robots it's a pure joy to play, but Mass Effect has taken my limited videogame time.
I traded up my surround sound system and relaly enjoy the one I have now. I actually took the time to install the surround speakers and run the wires through the ceiling. You don't notice it too often but in a movie when cars rush past or bullets fly by it makes for a really neat experience. This morning we were watching Cars and Emily with a serous face looks over at me, nods her head in the manner of an approving from a connoisseur, and said "Daddy, that's a good sound". I nearly fell off the couch laughing. That kid makes me laugh at least once a day!
I've always wanted a cool nickname. In all the cool action movies guys have a cool nickname based on their physical appearance, attributes, characteristics, or achievements. I've always wanted a cool nickname; the kind that's in quotes and replaces the middle name like John "Ace" Smith or Bill "Gunner" Jackson. I'd even be okay with a nickname that generally replaces the first name all together like "Sphinx", "Blade", "Wheels".
Don't get me wrong. I love my name. It's not common and I really like the Biblical origin. I have, however, always envied the people with a longer first name that can shorten it for an instant nickname. There's really no way of shortening "Seth" that doesn't sound absurd.
4 MPP's for a cool nickname for me.
10 MPP bonus if you get others on board and it sticks hahaha
...let's see what you got...
thank you so much for the encouragement. That was a major lift just when I needed it.
I'm not giving up on nursing. I know I will make a great nurse and I have a passion for doing so. I'm reviewing basic skills and scheduling a time to take the test to be a Certified Nursing Assistant. Next week I have a meeting with the director of the RN program to get specifics on what has to be done to get back into the program and re-do the 2nd semester. I'm reviewing all 2nd semester info and making flash cards. Also with my CNA I'll be able to get a job at the hospital to get me through school and have MUCH more flexibility in my work schedule.
In the meantime it has been wonderful to spend more time with the kids. Emily and Sean are eating up time with Daddy every morning and I'm pretty sure Meg is happy about it as well.
I have what's most important in my life. I trust in God to help me take care of that in the best way possible.
It has also been nice to actually have time to play a video game or two and read some fiction. Emily and I are reading the Chronicles of Narnia, I just finished Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton, and I'm reading The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide for the 5th time.
Life is good
