"Let's have faith that right makes might; and in that faith let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it."
-Abraham Lincoln
This is my favorite thing right now. Right really does make might- God teaches us this. I hope to have more might- and when im not feeling mighty- i hope im at least doing right. I love things that empower me!
i probably love you!

faith is such a "hard" thing. i was reading in dave ramsey's book (thanks heather and dan) about financial peace. it describes the way of life as simple. maybe difficult, but simple.
i think so often of faith in this way. i think of the disciples on the boat as they flustered about while Jesus slept. of course, we know that, later, Jesus questions their faith. it is so "simple" to trust our loving Father who provides us with so much. and to the disciples at that time it would have been so "simple" to trust in the man whom they had just seen perform miracles. yet, it was so difficult. it's not easy to trust when you don't understand. it's not easy to trust when youre scared. but we are still called to do it.
i think of the man who feared for his daughter's life, exclaiming to Jesus, "I do believe, but help my unbelief!"
how often do we feel this way? how often do we believe but still have unbelief inside of us?
i pray that we always ask for the help that we still so desperately need from the Lord whose power is perfected in weakness.

"Real power rests in those who perceive history as God's own drama, who tap into a power accessible only to those who ask and seek and knock. Prayer sets God loose. As we revolt against the world's disorder in our actions and in our prayers, refusing to resign ourselves to evil, we demonstrate that there remains, in Jesus' phrase, 'faith on earth'."

if only i could truly know and remember the importance of prayer the way that i should and the way that the Lord longs for me to fellowship with Him...
