More arm drama

Well...the arm is much improved from where it used to be. Unfortunately, it has developed a pinkish-redish ring around it that we decided needed to be checked out. So I went to the doctor (again) and I am on antibiotics (again). The doctor believed that some of the symptoms (or lack of) indicated that it might be an allergic reaction rather than an infection. Since their CBC machine was out of commission, they had to send the bloodwork off and expect it back tomorrow morning. Then we can reassess whether the antibiotics are necessary or if it's just a reaction to the ointment and/or dressing I have been using.

Comic relief of the day: I was expecting a finger prick for the bloodwork, but since they had to send it off to a lab, they had to take it from my arm for some reason. Anyway, that was a new experience....as the nurse is getting my arm ready, I try to take a few deep breaths to keep myself calm. I must have looked/sounded pretty bad, because the nurse asked "are you ok?" It turned out to not be as bad as I was afraid of...not nearly as bad as the shot...

So, it's back into the doctor visit routine again. Bloodwork results tomorrow and follow-up visit on Wednesday, God willing. Thanks for your prayers and concern (again). I'm ready to have two normal arms again...

Wow! I'll keep praying! The allergic reaction thing might be right. I had an infection once that got better on antibiotics only to get oozy and worse again. It turns out that I am allergic to neomyecin, the main ingredient in Neosporin. Now I have to be careful to check the ingredients on those topical things. The doctor told me that there are actually a lot of people with the same problem and just don't know it because they haven't had to use much of the stuff. Get better soon!

Yikes. Hope you can get the answers you need to get this thing taken care of once and for all. If it makes you feel any better, when I was in high school I had to give blood and I think it was one of the first times I ever did. My mom was sitting with me because I was nervous. They kept taking multiple viles and I said "wow, I didn't know I had so much blood in that one arm!" Yep, not so smart! Now I know how blood flow through the BODY works! haha :)
