Sniff, sniff...

How about a hypoallergenic hotel room:  hardwood floors,
leather couch/ chairs, vacuum-sealed linens and pillows
with a dryer in-room for fluffing, air purifier...
Just give me a plastic bubble, I guess.
I could even just wear one over my head like an astronaut.
Might be a good look for me.

Weird...

Last night I dreamed I was wrestling alligators that were trying to (of course) eat me.
Today I saw on the news that an alligator handler was bitten during a performance in New Port Richey, flown to the hospital, etc.

NEW PORT RICHEY - An alligator wrestler was bitten today during his show at the Cotee River Seafood Festival.
About 1:15 p.m., Jeffery Quattrocchi, 45, of Kissimmee, was bitten on the arm by an 8-foot alligator. He was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.
Quattrocchi, a self-employed alligator handler, is in stable condition and is expected to have surgery.

That's just weird to me.

Noah Sings History

The following is a video of Noah practicing the history memory work he's learned this year with Classical Converstions. It amuses me greatly and I am happy to share it with you. He and Darby are aspiring to be "Memory Masters," meaning they would have mastered all of the "grammar" of the 24 weeks of Foundation classes including science, history, math, Latin, geography, English, and 160 time-line events. If they can just do well on the geography, I think they'll reach their goal! No matter, they've learned a lot this year and have many new pegs on which to hang future learnin'. Enjoy!

Have you thought about foregoing conventional knowledge and just having him go into music? He has a gift and a really great flare! That was great!

OK - see the 4 solid squares running diagonally from the top left to bottom right? From there to the upper right corner is correct. The bottom left corner has a few pieces rotated the wrong way!

Maybe this will help you figure out how the blocks SHOULD look!

The Eiffel Tower fabrics are 12 inches square. I made her quilt a big full size so there are 20 blocks - but I repeated several of the fabrics. If you got a half yard of the fabric you could 3 blocks out of each. So you would need 7 different half yards, if you wanted to make a full/queen size. to make a twin size you could do 4 or 5 half yards. The quilt pattern is called BQ by maple island quilts. Their website is www.mapleislandquilts.com . If you can sew, and have a 1/4 inch foot for your sewing machine, you can handle this pattern! Let me know if you need any more help!

On this day I...

Was awakened by 2 licks to the nose. "Ewww!"

Gave a day so I could get a day... X 4.

Got to tell the Chick fil A cashier "My pleasure."

Thoroughly enjoyed my ice cream cone and wished it was not kiddy-sized.

Resisted using my Brusters gift card to resolve aforementioned problem on the way home from Chick fil A.

Had supper cooked by 4:30.

Wore a quilt to Bible class. "Thanks, Mom!"

Narrowly avoided a potentially embarrassing situation thanks to a friend. "Whew, that was close!"

Didn't open the package labeled, "Do not open..." even though I really wanted to.

Reflected on the past 4 decades. I know exactly where I was and what was going on (pretty close) around this time 10, 20, and 30 years ago.

It's been a good day.
I planned it that way.
And I'm thankful for it.
:)

Sick-Jewelry- Songs (updated)

UPDATE:
Poor Pnoah has Pneumonia!
Took Noah to the doctor Saturday. He's on antibiotics and the doctor kept assuring me that I shouldn't feel guilty, etc., etc. Funny thing, I didn't feel guilty at all until he kept telling me not to feel guilty.

Jogging speed remains quite slow, but I'm adding miles. That's got to be a good thing. They are just very slow miles: I was messing with my iPod, when I noticed a gray haired man walking along beside me, step for step. "This is embarrassing," I said aloud to him. He, kindheartedly said, "yeah, ...(blah, blah)... 61 year old." He said more, but I already told you my problem with the noise cancelling headphones. I at least heard enough to know that it was, indeed, embarrassing. I'm still ok with that. He was walking, for a 61 year old, QUITE fast, I'm sure! :)

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I just let Pnoah read what I'd written above, telling him to "Read to the cursor." He read for a bit, then asked, "Read to the curse word?"
Evidently, he's delirious from the sickness. Of course I didn't say, "to the curse word!" We both laughed.

Noah seems to be sick, but not sure if I should say "still" or "again."
Most likely taking him to the doctor tomorrow. Poor thing. :(
Got to get him well soon. We have a busy week planned ahead!!

Darby has been quite the jewelry maker lately. She entered a hand-beaded necklace, bracelet, and earrings matching set in the Polk County Youth Fair this week. Her entry won a blue, first place ribbon! She really enjoys making presents and has even sold a few things.
Tonight she brought me a really pretty necklace that she secretly made for me. She, Noah, and Greg went to the Alafia River Rendezvous yesterday. She had bought a little necklace there and, when she showed me, I playfully asked her where mine was (totally joking). She was sad that I didn't get a souvenir and went right then and started making me a necklace, unbeknownst to me.
I thought it was really sweet of her...totally unnecessary, but very sweet!
I shall post a photo if I ever think of it. :)

"ODES" Update:
CONTEST REMAINS OPEN-
I'm sorry to say that I haven't made purchase of ANY of the below suggested songs, but I am appreciative of the effort put forth by so many.
I have, however, added some new tunes and found myself jogging through much of my walk intervals. Not sure if that is the upbeat music or the new headphones that seem to block out the noise around me (including the beep of my watch telling me when to walk). Yes, the volume is QUITE low. Not a fan of headphone usage as a rule, but I see them as a necessary evil to distract me from my soreness and feelings of oldness (because of said soreness). ;)
Am I still slower than dirt? Yes, but I think it's helping slowly (of course) but surely.
And that's ok with me right now. :)

Side note to self (for everyone to read):
NEVER make a complete 7 dozen serving size batch of cookie dough/ cookies without specific plans for their dispersal.
Dispersal...now that's a weird sounding word.
(Made you say it!)

G'night!

Get Well Noah! Sick isn't fun.

I would like to see pictures of the prize winning jewelry! And of your special necklace. You have sweet and talented kids. Can't wait to see all of you next week!

Could you have meant 'disposal'? I think it works!

Someone suggested the Rocky song, didn't they? I think that would be good, and is there one in Chariots of Fire? I'm thinking that's a slow song though. I can hear it in my head now.

Who? - Mom's first cousins - Charlie and Joanie, Lynn and Allen. My second cousins - Jeff, Pam, Cathy and Kelly and some of their children. It's been fun! Wedding was nice tonight. Everyone got there and back through the snow safely. Not sure when we'll be able to head home.
