Fall is almost over?!?!?
It is all but winter and I am not ready for summer. The past few months have flown by with the various projects around the house, my work picking back up with requirements, teaching Bible classes and going to school.
The major project that certain ladies talked me into for the education of children is all but done. I just need to put up some trim and add one more light to the bathroom. The whole school thing has forced me to keep my shop picked up and generally organized, but I still need to do more.
Work picking up has been nice. I actually feel like I am accomplishing something and looking forward to even more requirements to complete as my project is going through a major upgrade. If I stay, and yes I am looking at other positions for various reasons, I would expect to visit close to 20 states by the end of September. The travel part, while in some ways is fun, I miss the family terribly and it seems to be likewise for them. Maybe I can take them along on some of the trips. It has happened a few times and has been really fun.
One more class to teach for Bible class and I will be done. I will miss not teaching, but enjoy having something off my plate for a while. With work increasing, I will need it. Last quarter I taught the Level 4 class (4-6 grade area) about the return from captivity and the 400 years of silence. This quarter I am teaching the Adults just the 400 years part. After 2 quarters, I am ready for a break. I do not see how teachers who teach every quarter, sometimes for years at a time, do it.
I am just completing my second college class which was on American History to 1877. If I do not complete the final test, I will still get an 80%. The two classes I have taken so far have been a challenge, but not as bad as I thought they would be. The biggest challenge for the history class was a research paper I finished last Sunday. I did my topic on Joseph Smith founder of the Mormons. The topic was interesting while being sad at the same time. If you want a good book to read about him, read “No Man Knows My History” by Fawn Brodie. It is very interesting reading about Smith’s life. With History complete this Sunday, math class starts Monday. It will be interesting to see how a math class is handled completely in an on-line setting.
I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving.
