Post Interview Comments

We are not moving. Not b/c I bombed the interview but b/c the interviewers bombed me. Bombed me with these questions: "We are an unusally liberal school, both politically and socially. Would you be comfortable working in that environment?" and "We have many gay and lesbian parents and staff. How would you be an advocate for homosexuals as the Lower School Head Teacher?" I wouldn't. That made for an akward moment. At least these questions leaked out in the 11th hour of a 12 hour interview. After it was obvious that I wasn't willing to come out of the closet and wear rainbow socks, the questions pretty much came to a halt. Fortunately I wasn't lynched.

jonathan! great to see you on here ole buddy. Your post reminds me of an interview I had with a large trucking company. I had a piece about serving as a minister on my resume, and one of them asked if I would still be able, as a religious person, to take clients to night clubs and strip clubs, because this would be expected. 5 seconds later the interview was over! Where do you live now? We need to catch up some day bro

Hey Jonathan, great to hear from you! That sounds very interesting. Maybe we can talk about it over the phone or through email a little bit. My email address is on the top left of my page. I could be a comedian too, I have great jokes ;)

Spring Break...

Normally for Spring Break our family goes to the beach. We are not going to the beach this year. It is too far. Too much of a hassle with three kids. Too expensive. So instead we are going to Durham, NC. Now you might ask, isn't that just as far, just as full of hassle, just as expensive? Good question. Yes, yes and no. No, b/c the trip is paid for. I am interviewing for a Lower School Director position at Carolina Friends School. So instead of relaxing, I am trying to tame these butterflies. There is already a flurry and it is just Friday. By Tuesday, I will have a whole flock flying out of my mouth.

I think it would be a really big hassle to move away! And expensive! :-)

But seriously, I know this is important to you and I will wish and pray for the best for you and your family.

Jonathan, this is Mike Tidwell - we were at FC together. I happened across your blog - I live in Apex, NC, about 20 minutes from Durham. If you need to know anything about the area, feel free to ask and good luck.

What is going on in my life

Here is a brief update. Since January 2006 my family went from... homeless to home, one kid to three kids, zero surgeries to two surgeries, zero dogs to one dog back to zero dogs, one grandma to no grandma, one job to well still just one job. Shawna stays home and tries to keep the peace. And there is definately some peace to be kept with three boys. I'm thinking about setting up some sort of padded cage so that we can keep them all contained.

Here is a snippit of what goes on at home. Silas (3) loves to play with cars and animals. Most of the cars are lined up in a row or organized by type. Please don't mess with them. He gets a nervous tick when you unorganize the set. Eli (1) is a maniac. He love to scream. He also loves to scream. He is a thrill junkie. One of his favorite things to do is fall. Now for most folk (me included) falling is unpleasant. We don't enjoy the jostling of bone and the pain. Eli squeals with delight. I want to set up a bungy jump off our balcony, but Shawna won't let me. Cooper (1) is quite different. I think this sums up Cooper: I was at home, in charge, or at least I was the adult in the house. I was downstairs. The boys were upstairs. There was a bunch of hooplah going on upstairs, so I decided to investigate. What I saw was Eli and Silas innocently pounding on each other (Now you might think this is an unfair match up, but Eli can hold his own). In the midst of this unsupervised no rules wrestling was Cooper, reading a book. Focus. He's got focus. He a sweet kid, balances out the other two.

That's all I got. Until next post.

Hey Jonathan. I enjoyed this update. Shawna certainly doesn't have time to post, so I'm glad you did. I heard you were lurking on my blog and didn't even know you had one, so now I will lurk on yours! Say hi to the family. :)

Santa

Just took the kids to see Santa. It's not easy to get 3 kids to smile at once.
  • harbermama
You should have asked me along...at least I can always get E & C to smile when I do my pig snort. It's a God-given talent...what can I say?
