I have not been on Pleo in sooo long, but I wandered over here from FB tonight. I must say that I had a great time catching up on everyone's statuses. I had forgotten what great discussions some of these boards have! I have become too attached to FB, but I will be visiting Pleo more frequently in order to "fill my cup!" I hope you all are doing well, and I hope that you all have a wonderful start to the new year!
I know that I have not been on Pleo in sooo long. Facebook and Farmville became my undoing! I know that Sharon has been campaigning for me, but I just wanted to post my own post asking for your votes. I am a top 3 finalist for ABCTE Teacher of the Year in the State of South Carolina. ABCTE is the alternate route certificate program that I went through in order to get my teaching certificate a couple of years ago.
If you have a second, please vote for me. I will greatly appreciate it! There is nothing to sign up for; just click on the link, click on South Carolina, then Deanna Cannon Watson. The deadline is tomorrow, Thursday, July 29th, at 5 PM. You can vote from every computer!
I am not even going to post my resolutions, because it seems that when I "air" them, they never come true! I definitely will finish my Masters' this year, Lord willing. First semester down, only 2 more to go. I will graduate in July. So far, so good. I have a 4.0 right now. :)
I don't really want to go back to work next week. I have my work cut out for me, and it is a little daunting. After a 2 week break, I have only 3 days to review the entire semester before all of my classes take their state-mandated End-of-Course tests. These are those tests that show up on the school report cards, etc. Why would the district plan this this way? Just to make teachers stress about it, I guess. Hopefully I can cram lots of knowledge back into the young'uns heads in a matter of hours!!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a happy New Year!
I know this is the time of year when everyone discusses what they are thankful for. I'd like to think that I am a pretty thankful, grateful person year-round, but there is one thing that I am especially thankful for this year---Thanksgiving Break!! I needed more than a weekend in order to get all of my Masters' assignments (I think it was 6 papers along with 3 major projects). I am still not done, but I have at least made a dent in the workload! I still took time to play with the kids, bake some goodies, EAT! with family, run to Wally World yesterday, have a "date night" with hubby, and go hunting this morning. I could have accomplished more "work," but I am also accomplishing LIFE!! I am thankful for all that I have, and I need to make sure that I make time to enjoy it all!! Hope you all had plenty of turkey and fellowship with family and friends!
It's been months since I've posted, but I have been super-busy. It is hard to have a couple of full-time jobs (wife, mother, HS teacher, etc.), and go to school full-time. Sometimes I wonder if I can keep these up, but I just remind myself that in just one year I'll be done with school--and I'll have my masters. I feel so lucky that I got my job when I did--of course, I don't really believe in coincidences, so I know that this was part of God's plan for me. It is really sad that so many teachers are graduating from college and can't find a job--especially in elementary or early childhood education. We have several substitutes who have a cerificate in one of those areas, but can only get work subbing at the high school level.
Had several birthday parties, showers, etc. in the month of September (made cakes for 2 of those occasions). The month of October has not been quite so busy thus far, but my cousin is getting married today, and then I have class all weekend next weekend. Got to figure out what we're going to do for Halloween. Guess we need to be thinking about that...
Had sick kids, and Tanner is still dealing with cough, etc. His "not-really-asthma" has been really acting up this week since it has been so cool and damp. Hopefully, he'll get cleared up quickly.
I think that is a rundown of the last couple of months. I need to do better about checking pleo, but I don't even check my email but about once a week anymore! Priorities, you know. (The real story is that all my "free time" is spent doing homework!!)
