still pecking

I went to the doc last Thurs. and was to have my stitches removed butas he removed two of them the wound was opening up and bleeding so he would not continue (I was glad 'cause it was hurting like the dickens). I was very disappointed and somewhat down in the dumps. I am very ready to have the use of my hand back. I will see him again tomorrow and I am quite confident he will be able to remove the rest. I have been babying it more than before. It is very tight and I'm sure I will have to work on it to stretch it all back out but I have not had anymore numbness in this hand. I think I am going to wait several months before having the left hand done so I can build up the strenbgth in the right. I'll keep you all posted.

post surgery update

peckin away with my left hand mostly but using my right pointer too. I am doing very well after my carpal tunnel release this Monday. It was a very long day. I was instructed to be at the hospital at 6a.m. and when I arrived I was told I was not scheduled until 2p.m. went home and waited until 2 and went back. I was not taken back to a prep room until about 4 and not taken to surgery until 6:30p.m. Got home about 8:30. I was suffering from a terrible headache due to fasting for almost 24 hours. not that it hurt me to go without food. I have done very well I think. Have had minmal pain but still thank God for the pain meds! I have a big ol bandage on my R hand so using it for much is impossible. I still have pain with certain positions and if I strain it accidentally but it doesn't last long. Other things I thank God for from this are elastic waist pans (I can't zip a zipper or pull up stiff pants); my left hand-even though I have carpal tunnel problems in it too- I have found I can use it more than I thought; a loving family who have been generous in helping me with all the little things such as opening med bottles and cooking for me,etc.
We will be having church services in our new building for the first time tomorrow morning and are very excited. Many members have been working furiously this past week to make it happen. Ihave done what I could. hope everyone has a pleasant 2009; keep it safe and pray often.

Glad that surgery is over with and now you can concertrate on healing. I agree with you, elastic waist pants are great for post surgery.

Surgery is planned

I saw the surgeon today and we scheduled my surgery for Monday, Dec. 28th. I will have to be off work at least a week. I am already scheduled to be on vacation that whole week anyway and I will actually probably be off 2 weeks because I won't go back to see him until Jan. 8th. I pray all goes well. Hope everyone has a great holiday! God bless you all and be safe.

Well here goes...

I went to the doc today to get the ball rolling for my carpal tunnel problem. It isn't easy sitting here typing on the computer even. My hand keeps going to sleep and I have to shake it hard to wake it up. Anyway... I am going to have an EMG (electromyograpy) tomorrow. That I don't look forward to because they will stick me with a needle and then send an electrical shock through it to ssee how my nerve is conducting sensations. I have an appointment to see an orthopod a week from today and if all goes as I plan I will most likely have surgery on my Right hand the first of the new year. I will also plan to have the left hand done although it is not as bad as the right. Please keep me in your prayers that all goes well.
My sister fell today and hurt her knee. She went to the doc and was told she just bruised it badly but she came by and got our crutches because he told her to try to stay off it for a few days.
Meagan is babysitting two of the boys from church over here tonight and she is having as much fun as they are playing the Wii with them. I love to hear her laughing!! It is such a joy.

I had carpal tunnel surgery a year ago and my hand is almost normal now. The surgery was not too bad to get over either...just hurt for a few days.

I have been busy this week getting my house decorated for the holidays. I have my Christmas ornament party tomorrow and so I have needed to get it all decorated early. After tomorrow I can relax a little although still all the fudge and goodies to make.
I have all my shopping done already and even have the gifts already wrapped and under the tree. I started early this year. Hope everyone has good holiday fun!!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
