Yes, (1) because I made a commitment to it and (2) because I still feel that, in the short term, it is consistent with God's will for me. Or, in other words, I don't have any reason to believe God wants me to get out.

Last Meal

did you know to avoid extravagance in Florida a last meal may cost no more than $40 to prepare and ingredients must be obtained locally?

i was wondering if you knew when your death was would you perhaps take a last meal... morbid? sure but that doesn't mean i cant wonder.

i would probably go with a salad with tons of tasty veggies... like a Greek salad, Feta cheese and banana peppers.

something light ya know.

wouldn't want to go out all bloated and stuff. i hear you may crap yourself after you die.

plus if my death was messy, like my body split in half or i puked uncontrollably until i died of choking or dehydration or something it would just be that much less to clean up.

but seriously i'm thinking of just taking every meal as my last.

i mean i guess that's kinda why we pray before we eat.
"bless you for this food father, since it may be my last and now that i am eating this wonderful salad, that cheeseburger from McDonald's is not my last meal. What a crappy last meal that would have been. AMEN!"

anyway i would probably end up being healthier if i thought i would die right after each meal.
i only eat till i am full because i am thinking about how i will have hours to let the food settle.
so my meals would be smaller.

so here's to a healthier me.

Death row prisoners have had some very interesting last meal requests over the years. One guy asked for hamburgers, fries, and eggs. Another guy asked for twelve hot dogs and a coke. Those are just the ones I remember.

What a random post! I think I'd do the completely opposite and eat something horrible for me.

Verse for the day!

1 Kings 21:21
Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,

That was a favorite memory verse in my Junior High class as I recall.

Former Guantanamo Bay prisoner 'leading Taliban in Afghanistan'

US intelligence officials have claimed that a prisoner released from Guantanamo Bay prison has emerged as the Taliban's leader in southern Afghanistan.

Abdullah Ghulam Rasoul, formerly Guantanamo prisoner No. 008, was among 13 Afghan prisoners released to the Afghan government in December 2007, according to the claims.

He is now known as Mullah Abdullah Zakir, a nom de guerre that Pentagon and intelligence officials say is used by a Taliban leader who is in charge of operations against US and Afghan forces in southern Afghanistan.

Pentagon officials have said that as many as 60 former detainees out of 500 released have resurfaced on foreign battlefields.

If the claims about Rasoul are valid, he would be the most senior to have done so. Officials offered no evidence for their claim, which came a few weeks after President Barack Obama pledged to close down the controversial jail on a US naval base in Cuba.

US authorities handed over Rasoul to the Afghan government, which in turn released him, according to Pentagon and CIA officials.

The officials, who spoke anonymously to the Associated Press, said Rasoul emerged as a key militant figure in southern Afghanistan, where violence has been spiking in the last year against British, American and Afghan troops.

Although the militant detainees who have resurfaced were released under the Bush administration, the revelation underscores the Obama administration's dilemma in moving to close the detention camp at Guantanamo and figuring out what to do with the nearly 250 prisoners who remain there.

In one of his first acts in office, President Barack Obama signed an executive order to close the jail next year. The order also convened a task force that will determine how to handle remaining detainees, who could be transferred to other US detention facilities for trial, transferred to foreign nations for legal proceedings or freed.

What can you expect. Islam is a "religion of peace". If you have never read the quran, you should. You will see that the Talaban are more Islamic than the moderates who want it to be something other than what it is.
