We just got back from a wonderful vacation in North Carolina. As we were driving through the area, we saw a lot of signs with just one word, such as "Repent" and "Pray." We loved looking for them---they were just wooden, hand painted signs nailed to trees along the drive up the mountain. We also saw one billboard that really sticks out in my mind.

In a speech bubble at the bottom of the billboard:
"Dear God, why don't you send someone to cure cancer, AIDS, autisum, ect?"

In a speech bubble at the top of the billboard:
"I did, but you aborted them."

Thought provoking, isn't it?

French Toast

I had to share this recipe. It comes from my Deceptively Delicious cookbook, by Jessica Seinfeld. This french toast was SO GOOD and SO EASY and QUICK! It's one of the fastest homemade, hot breakfasts I've made. All three of us loved it, so there is appeal to all ages! :)

4 large eggs
2 TBSP banana OR pineapple OR sweet potato OR carrot OR butternut squash OR canned pumpkin
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
4-6 slices whole wheat bread
2 tsp Soft Tub Margarine spread
Nonstick cooking spray
Maple Syrup or Confectionners Syrup
Flaxseed meal (optional)

In shallow bowl, whisk the eggs, puree, and cinnamon. Add the bread slices and turn them in the mixture to soak for 30 seconds to 1 minute. (Do not let bread get soggy.)

Coat nonstick griddle or skillet with cooking spray and ser over medium-high heat. When the pan is hot, add the margarine. Once the margarine sizzles, add the bread slices (sprinkle now with flaxseed meal) and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Serve warm with syrup and/or confectioners suger on top.

I keep fruit and veggies purees on hand, but if you don't, a banana is really quick and easy to puree. Just cut a few pieces of banana and place in your blender or food processor, add water and puree.

This is so YUMMY!!!

There is a website about this cookbook...

That looks good. What fruit or veggie did you use? I'm thinking that the pumpkin would be tasty.

Your friend's Kindle - does she find it easy to carry with her to places like a doctor's office or something similar? How "bulky" is it?

Stick with Plan Abstinence!!!!

The FDA approved that the morning after pill (Plan B) can be purchased without a prescription by 17 YEAR OLDS?! I am sick to my stomach.

I don't get it at all. They can't smoke a cigarette, but they can use Plan B?

I know there are drugstores here and pharmacists who refuse to dispense it. The whole Plan B thing disgusts me.

I know! It's just ridiculous! I wish more pharmacies and drugstores would refuse to sell it. I am just sick---the absolute disreguard for life is disgusting.

Book Club Recomendations??

It's my month to pick the book for my book club. Any recomendations? Read any good books lately?
  • trishie
What kind of books do you read? My favorite book of all times is called Celia Garth. I think that it was written in the 50s, but it was just recently reprinted. My sisters and I love it. It is a historical fiction about a girl(Celia Garth) during the Revolutionary War. It is fun and exciting. You really feel like you could be Celia Garth. I haven't been able to find a copy for years, but I got it for Christmas and reread it and I still love it!

Have you tried Judith Pella or Tracie Peterson? Those are two of my favorite authors of christian fiction. They write a lot of historical christian fiction. I also really like Beverly Lewis, but that's mainly because I am fascinated by the Amish lifestyle for some reason. I need to try Karen Kingsbury, but I always forget when I go to the library.

Oh, I love Dee Henderson too! She has a series about the O'Malleys. There are about 6 of them I think. Also there is a pleonast group for christian_fiction. Sorry I'm not very good at the linking groups thing. They don't really get a lot of action, but you might find some ideas. that's how I heard about Dee Henderson.

There's a series called "Dearest Dorothy" and they are wonderful and somewhat Christian based. They are smaller and easy to read. There are 6 in the series I believe. I highly recommend them! They are written by Charlene Baumbich

Anniversary Coupons

On Sunday Aaron and I celebrated 6 years of marriage! It has gone by so fast and we've been through so much. It's been a great 6 years and I look forward to many more! I love you babe!

Now, the main reason for my post. :) I've started clipping coupons online. The main site I use is moneysavingmom.com. I was wondering if any of you do this? What site(s) you use? What I've mainly been trying to do is find coupons for things I will be buying anyway and using those, not clipping a bunch of coupons and buying things we don't need or will use. I have clipped different brand names for some things. Anyway, I would love any advice! I've also just gotten a CVS extra care card, but the whole CVS shopping pheonomenon sort of scares me! :)

I just started with CVS. It is great. Just go in there with a plan ahead of time and you will be fine. I get free stuff all the time from CVS. They paid me $1.25 to take away some Irish Spring body wash and Colgate toothpaste. I love it.

I have been couponing for awhile now, and I have found that www.thecouponmaster.com is the perfect place to get coupons. They have a list of all the coupons that come out in the newspaper and you can pick which ones you want. You have to pay for them (.10 per coupon or something like that) and there is a minimum, but I like it because you can pick the coupons you will use.

I also do the grocery game, and that is worth learning. It's not as hard as it looks, and once you do it a couple of times, it's pretty simple. You can go to www.thegrocerygame.com and sign up for a four week trial for a dollar.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you need help with the grocery game. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

Yeah, I understand not wanting to spend to save, but in some cases, it actually works. =-) I think I paid about $4 for coupons on that website for over $20 in savings, so I guess that was worth it. The grocery game saves me tons each month... I have so much toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, etc, I won't have to buy it for months! And most of those products were under a dollar! Anyway, it takes some thought and planning, which is the difficult part for me. I'm not much of a planner. =-) Good luck!

Thanks! :) And congrats on 6 happy years! It's amazing how fast it goes. As for coupons, I check coupons.com and smartsource.com. I'm an amateur but hope to improve. The CVS deal intrigues me, but I feel overwhelmed by it too! :)
