Happy 2009!!!

I cannot believe it's already 2009! This past year has definitely gone by fast! I guess my posts are getting farther and farther between; oh well...most of ya'll have facebook anyways!

I've stayed pretty busy! I'm enjoying working 7 nights on then 7 nights off way better than the 12 hour shifts of 3 a week. They've talked me into working a few 12 hour shifts here and there and each time I wonder how I used to do them all the time! I'm currently on my first night back after 7 nights off. I got to go home to my parents' place last Saturday and came back to Bham on Wednesday. Time always seems to go by fast when I go home. We did Christmas stuff on Saturday because I had to work Christmas. The kids had fun and Allie crowned me with a princess tiara before we started opening presents (she had one on too). I also went hunting with Ryan and then 4 wheeler riding on Monday. Tuesday we went crabbing.

For New Years eve I went to church with Ben and then to a get together at a couple from church's home. Then on Jan 1st I went shopping with Ben's mom, sis, and soon to be sis in law...we were dress shopping for the soon to be sis in law. We had a good time. Last night before leaving for work a bunch of us got together and was watching the AL game....when I left right before the 1st quarter was over the score was 20 to 0!

Violet is still keeping me busy. She has started to slow down a bit, which is very good! She's been growing her adult teeth here lately. Her canines are coming in on the bottom and the baby ones are still there, so she's double toothed! If she lets you look at them, it looks kinda funny! I bought her a puppy sweater and blanket the other day and she loves them...the sweater hardly ever stays on her, but she does like to chew on it! She's doing much better with "sit" and sometimes actually stays when I tell her to, but not for long! Last time she was weighed she was 4 1/2 pounds...she's getting bigger!

Come by and visit when you get the chance! I hope everyone had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year!

almost 2 months since I last posted!

It's been about 7 weeks since I last updated! Wow! Lot's of big changes have occured in that time!

Violet is now 18 weeks! She weighed in at a whopping 3.6 lbs Tuesday at the vet's office....she's gained a lil over a lb since I got her! She has broken me in well with a bunch of the possible puppy problems a pet can have. From pink eye to tape worms to you name it we probably already dealt with it! I'm so glad I joined a puppy wellness plan and the vet visits have all been free, I just have to pay for the meds and a monthly fee (both do add up though!). For pics of violet, you'll have to visit facebook since I'm not very good at posting pics on here!

I'm enjoying the fall weather tremendously! THe leaves are starting to change colors =) I love it when that happens up here in Bham! I'm still enjoying my new house! I've found lots of good christian neighbors that live in my neighborhood too! It's like the Richeson/Wessel neighborhood! So far, I know of 3 other homes here aside from my own that they attend services, just at various locations. Life has become more fun and interesting with my new friends. Violet loves all the extra attention too! She's gone on several walks and she sure does sleep well afterwards!

I went golfing for the first time ever Tuesday with Ben. I got to drive the golf cart and swing at a few balls (I'm not very good at it though...the ball didn't even leave the ground). Golfing was a lot of fun, I just have to get the hang of holding the golf club, swinging and actually hitting the ball without tearing up the grass! It's harder than it looks! Ben is also one of my neighbors...he lives on my street even, just at the 4 way stop. One of my christian neighbors introduced us at church when I went with her and her family to Oak Mtn. After all my security issues, she told him he needed to be my "security guard." We've been enjoying each others company =)

In other news, this weekend is my LAST 3 12 hour shifts! =) Yay! I've worked every weekend now for a whole year...it definitely gets old! Most people think it would be an awesome schedule, but try it out and you'll change your mind! So, after I finish working today, tomorrow, and Saturday nights 12 hour shifts each (7a to 7p), I then will start my new schedule Monday night at 11p to 7a. I will work through Thursday night, then I'll be off for a whole week! =) That's the way my new schedule works (Friday to Thursday, then off a week). Sadly though, I'll be working Thanksgiving again and Christmas. I already have plans for Thanksgiving though, so that's good =)

My first night off will be Halloween! I've worked pretty much all the holidays this year except labor day and memorial day, so I'm excited about this! I'm not really sure what my plans will be yet for that night, but the next day I get to go home to FL for almost a whole week! I haven't been home since my bro got married in August! That's when I got Violet too!

Tuesday while shopping with a friend and her lil boy, I was at the check out counter. My friend was getting Johnson out of the buggy, when the cashier asked me if he was mine? I responded, no, I'm not married. SHe said "oh well I didn't mean it like that he could be your grandkid..." Me "yeah, he's not my grandkid either!" After that I had to get out of there fast so I could bust out laughing! I always got the you look like your 12, or 18, or most recently 20....never have I gotten the older side much less a grandma! I thought ya'll would have fun with that!

I guess I better run for now. I do need a nap before heading in to work this evening! Sorry it's been so long since I updated!
  • stampergirl
Ummm, Ben sounds good! Glad you won't have to work weekends now, but the graveyard shift is still hard. Don't worry about that cashier...sometimes people make you wonder.

There are some weird ones out there...one time a lady went through the whole possible line up with me and Julie. It went from, "Are you two sisters? Aunt? Mother?" We were like which one of us is supposed to be the mother?? lol

I too heard you were in GVILLE! I'm sorry I missed seeing you. Sounds like you are living the good life in Bham. I love the game of golf, I'm just no good. It's really fun to drive the carts though!

Last day being 22!

Today is my last day to be 22! I've been very blessed this year with my family and friends. It's hard to believe in just a few hours I'll be 23! I was able to celebrate in style though with stefanie. We went to the toyota place and looked at and test drove a 2007 prius! It was a very cool car!!! It's the car I want to get when I have a lil bit more money! We both got a chance to test drive it....I was a more serious, get the facts, don't seem too excited person....stefanie was all excited, it was funny to watch. In case you don't know, when you car shop, you aren't suppose to act excited or they won't drop the price much, but if you don't act interested they do what they can to entice you! After about 2 1/2 hours of looking at, driving, and trying to get a simple quote we left the place at about 8:30. We had a fun time though! The hybrid cars are very quiet and have a nice, smooth ride! =) After that we went to carraba's and had my favorite: chicken bryan! yummy!!!! We hung out and then they came and sang happy birthday to me and then we had this huge piece of cake to share! It was very delicious!!!!

That's the hilight of my last day of my 22nd year! Prior to that I called a bunch of apartments in bham! Fun stuff. I also got my pin and graduation robe, tassel, and stuff! Next week is coming soon! We get to practice being pinned tomorrow! Time to get ready for bed...hope everyone has an awesome day tomorrow!

Have a wonderful birthday!! Remember to buy a car that is at least a couple of years old, so you don't take the hit of all of the depreciation. If you don't already know about Dave Ramsey, please start listening to him NOW on 99.5 from 1-3pm weekdays and 8-10pm. You'll make much wiser decisions with your new income and not have to learn the hard way!!!!

"extracorporeal membrane oxygenation". Serves the same purpose as the bypass machines they use during a CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) aka "bypass surgery".

    by seashelll at 04/23/07 4:06PM

The NICU is awesome! =)

I survived my first ever 12 hour shift!!!! It didn't start to get to feeling long until 1800, only 1 hour before reporting off time! I loved taking care of them babies! They're so much easyier to move than adults! =) My preceptor was awesome and she showed me stuff and made me feel just like I belonged too! =) Tomorrow will be day 2 and I may get my own baby to take care of....with help from my preceptor as well!

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone has left me! =)
