This is a re-telling of what happpened in my daughter's Sunday school class yesterday, covering the period of the Judges.
Teacher (paraphrase): "It's time to review today about Gideon. After Gideon's 300 men broke their pitchers and shouted 'A sword for the Lord and for Gideon,' what happened?"
Alana (age 6): "The Midianites chopped the person next to them (accompanied by a karate chop motion), hit the other person next to them (accompanied by a punch), and then said 'sorry.'"
I'm slow in updating this because it's not a favorite subject.
As many of you have been aware, the Dept of Human Services recently went to court to terminate the parental rights of our foster son Isaac’s biological mother. The judge denied the motion for termination.
At this point, we don’t know exactly what will happen next. We have another court hearing on Jun 24 before another judge that will make a lot of decisions. Isaac will not be returning to his mother in the foreseeable future and will remain with us.
We do ask for your prayers as we deal with the shock, anger, and sadness due to the decision, but most of all we ask for your prayers on Isaac’s behalf.
The closing arguments from both sides finished at 5pm on Wed, the verdict will be read on May 27 at 1:30pm.
I never want to see a termination trial again. It rips your heart out watching the life of a minor, and how it's affected her child, be shared before the court. She's made poor decisions, but is also living proof that children bear the consequences of the sins of their parents.
Our prayers are that the cycle will stop, not only in this situation, but with all families.
This coming Monday, the Social Services Department of Weld County Colorado will go before a judge to present their case to terminate the parental rights of our foster son's biological mother.
Much prayers are needed for everyone in this case.
And here I thought he was going to improve relations with our foreign neighbors...

- I actually sat in the 2nd row behind the visiting team's bench, my mistake. The best part was when my bro-n-law told me I was on TV texting him about what I was doing....
