Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage

All right, first of all, most of my entries (like 9 out of 10) will be subject based, such as this one. I will try to make one every day. One or more. Alright, here we go.

Marriage
Marriage is something good, and honourable (Hebrews 13:4), something God made (Mark 10:9) and has been in order since the beginning of the world (Genesis 2:24). It's something that God condemns us for tearing apart. That brings us to the second point of the subject.

Divorce
Mark 10:9 (NKJV)
Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.

When man and woman are properly married, God joins them together with holy bonds. Therefore, it is wrong to try and separate husband and wife. Basically, do not divorce your spouse.

Matthew 19:9
And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.

This verse says that you should not divorce your spouse. However, if they have committed sexual immorality, you can divorce them. That spouse, if he/she commits that sin, cannot be remarried, or they are guilty of adultery.

Remarriage
The only way the divorced spouse can be married once more, is if he/she is reconciled to their former, faithful, spouse.

1 Corinthians 7:11
But even if she does depart (this is not pardoning divorce, it's just dealing with the situation, should it arise), let her be remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife.

Alright, I've already given a verse for the day, so I'll close the entry as it is.

Thanks,
Stephen

This is short, and it covers the basics of the subject. It's not meant to be in-depth, but hopefully it covers all the basics.

Introduction

Hello! The purpose of this blog is to exhibit my spiritual side mainly. My name is Stephen (and for privacy's sake, I will not give my last name). I became Christian April 2nd 2006.
In light of the recent holiday, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! It was a really fun year, though it passed quite quickly, and I hope to make this one an even better on, if possible. I intend to grow, physically, yes, but mainly spiritually, as I have the most room for improvement in that area.

My New Year resolutions (we all have them):

Read the entire Bible twice.
I'm hoping to grow three inches in the course of the year.... at least...
Read Eragon (my favorite book) five times.
Control Temper
Keep room clean
Do better in school

Those are all the ones I can think of right now.

My method of reading the bible is a Bible Calendar, a thing they are giving out at my church. Today's bible reading is:

Genesis 1-4; Luke 1
If you want to read along, that'd be great. At my church, there is a study every Sunday morning on the chapters we read throughout the week.

Now, I'll close my introduction with a verse or verses of the day.

Psalm 78:12-16

Marvelous things He did in the sight of their fathers, In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. He divided the sea and caused them to pass through; And He made the waters to stand up like a heap. In the daytime also He led them with the cloud. And all the night with a light of fire. He split the rocks in the wilderness, And gave them drink in abundance like the depths. He also brought streams out of the rock, And caused waters to run down like rivers.

Enjoy,
Stephen
