I HEART HATE Running

I have been running *cough* jogging *cough* about 3 miles 2 to 3 times a week for the past few weeks. I have never considered myself a runner. I hate running unless it is a necessary part of some other sporting activity (Most of you who know me know that I have no aversion to athletics). I still don't enjoy the actual running. Afterward I do feel OK though. There is something about the feeling of accomplishment you get from doing any kind of physical exercise.

This post is really to remind myself why I need to make an effort to control my health and quality of life as much as God allows me to. We all have a lot of excuses why we get into bad shape and suffer because of it, but not many of us have good reasons. If I decided to bail from my job I would not be surprised at the impact it would have in regards to providing for my family. Why should we be surprised at the results of ignoring our physical health? Do I expect to eat like I'm still 18 and then sit on my bum for 9+ hours a day and there be no consequences?

Sorry for the selfish post. Maybe someone else will get something out of it as well. I just wanted to have something in writing somewhere to remind myself to not quit doing something beneficial just because I don't enjoy it.

Thanks for the encouragement! I just started working out every Thursday with a coworker. Why should I let a new baby, a job and other things be an excuse for not taking care of myself. Having a baby is even more of a reason to take care of myself!

ATL

Looks like I may be in Atlanta for business June 24th - 26th.

I would be staying at the Westin - Peachtree Plaza. Not sure what time I am getting in on the 24th or if I will have a rental car to use. If any of my pleo buddies are gonna be around during that time maybe we can pull off a meet.
  • simon_says
    Uh...hello!!!!

Man, the Westin is pretty swishy!

I thought you were around Atlanta. Was not sure though. So the Westing is swank? NICE! We are there for a short recruiting conference on thursday and friday. It would be cool to see you guys. We will have to plan something as details get more concrete for me.

Westin...or Westing. I hope both are swanky (just in case). ;) I love typos.

The Westing is the crappy place that they hope you pick by accident because you can't spell. Better double check your reservation...

Sorry, bro, I couldn't quite get what you were saying. Could you reword your comment? Hi, by the way, my name is Joshua.

Just in case you could use it...

Through a work relationship I have the opportunity to offer two different benefit packages to members of the Church and their families.

The package with lifelock is a really good deal for anyone who is considering using their identity protection services. You save $10/mo compared to their normal price and get

The medical discounts package is also a good value when you look at all it comes with. I have seen the dental discount program being sold for $10/month alone.

I would have been buying ads here on pleo but just as I was ready to go they got pulled in favor of google ads again. My goal is to provide some value while making a little extra for my family in the process. :)

Hope everyone in pleoland is doing well and is maybe less busy than I have been lately.

One Manning Down...

One To Go.

Bailout Backlash

When 90%+ of the public agree, what do your elected "representatives" do?

Just the opposite.

Insulting. We need to pay attention to every single politician who voted for this and turn them out on their rears.

It is schizophrenic that all the same people who told us that overspending and liberal credit policies caused this are the same people who think that the solution is to put us further in hock to loosen up credit so we can all get easy access to cash we don't have again.

GENIUS.

I think Ron Paul had an aneurysm during this whole fiasco. He once again sounds like the sanest man that nobody is listening to.

well I am still writing Ron Paul in on my ballot

McCain should have voted against it and then hit it over Obama's head in the next debate. I guess that would have been too much of a "maverick" thing for him.

Bob Barr opposed the bailout, but it's easy enough to take a strong position on something when you don't get an actual vote on the bill.
