I love December! I so enjoy all the Christmas carols and the fun of shopping for everyone, picking out things I hope they'll love. It actually snowed here in Houston! That was an amazing treat for us. Seeing my kiddoes in fuzzy PJs and watching Christmas movies on the weekends with the fam. Memory making moments!

What a fun month we've had! Joel learned how to sit last week and got his first 2 teeth. Abby has been delighting us with her vivid imagination. On Halloween morning, she woke up with a very friendly imaginary monster named Monty. He slept in her book shelf and was black & white with blue eyes. We're glad he was friendly! She wanted to be a princess...again...this year. Joel was Cousin It 1st for the adult Halloween party and a lion for the kids' party. Hard to believe November is already here. I'm looking forward to our extra hour of sleep tonight. Now, if someone could just tell Joel about sleeping in that extra hour!

“What’s this song about mommy?”
“Well, it’s called, ‘I Have Decided to Follow Jesus’. It means the people singing have decided to live their lives for Jesus, like Mommy and Daddy. When we were baptized we decided to live for Jesus.”
“I’m going to live for Jesus too. I’m going to be baptized too!”
“Yes, one day when you’re bigger.”
“Look, Mommy!” Stretching out on floor. “I’m bigger already! I’m ready to be baptized!”
“Well, I think you need to be a little bit older, Abby.”
“How old were you, Mommy, when you were baptized?”
“I was 11.”
“Yeah” (pause). “One day soon I’m going to be 16. Then I’ll be baptized.”
Treasuring all these things in my heart! These little conversations are so precious. Little seeds being sown…

I have to start back to work on Monday. I'm really sad about it. Don't get me wrong, I love teaching school but somehow my passion has gradually diminished since Abby was born 3 years ago and is currently at an all time low. In a nutshell, I'd rather be home with my own babies instead of giving my energy to someone else's babies. Without my passion, I'm only an OK teacher, not a dynamically fantastic one like I used to be...and that's not exactly fair to the kids I serve. I've always been of the opinion that teachers with no drive need to disappear (yet, here I am, sigh). Plus, I'm teaching pre-k again this year and it's hard to get excited about that. I much prefer kinder; it's incredibly rewarding to teach children to read. Most pre-k kiddoes in a public school setting aren't quiet ready for that yet. Trying to look on the bright side, I'm only working half day. I'm usually home before noon so I get the afternoon with my own little ones. Plus, I've had the summer and 6 extra weeks for maternity leave. But, still...I'm pretty bummed...
Good-bye beautiful summer 2009! It's been phenomonal!
(Here's my cutie-patootie Joel's 3 month photos. This time he didn't get dumped on his head! Yee-haw!)
HOpe you and your sweet family have a wonderful holiday! Sounds like you are off to a great start!!!
