So...today was my first day as a full-time college student.

Government II: American Government and Texas Government. How bad can it be?

Sarah and I walk into class. A sweet-looking, santa-ish old man is obviously the teacher, and I am hopeful that this guy cusses less than my earlier teacher. He starts out just fine-funny, friendly, etc. After he goes through attendance, he starts cussing...A LOT. He starts talking about a highly inappropriate word (all cuss words are bad, but this one we absolutely cannot stand) and how we are going to discuss what it means to us. REALLY? What does that have to do with American government? He claims it is freedom of speech and since we are adults we can talk about this word. He also goes onto say we will be looking at basically porn (he also used the word "explicit"). SERIOUSLY? Dear Professor, you are 70 years old. Surely you know bigger words than four letter ones, and it is creepy that you want us to look at porn. Can't we just discuss it? Is it necessary to see it? I don't think so. Okay. Then he finishes with a big rant about how we, as Texans, defied the Constitution when we banned gay marriage. Apparently, it's a civil right.

Needless to say, we felt we couldn't stay in this class. We would be so uncomfortable if he did show us porn, discuss an inappropriate word, and continue with his obvious liberal slant. After our last class, we went to admissions and asked to be transferred.

While we were waiting in line, Sarah was texting with a fellow student. He said he has fulfilled both his government reqirements, and he had the coolest professor ever. He believed his professor's classes are in high demand and would be completely full. Additionally, we had wanted to take more honor classes but couldn't due to conflicting time schedules.

Finally, we sit down to tell the advisor we have to switch classes. The first one she finds is an honors class with that professor!! I am absolutely thrilled. :)

Also....YAY MASSACHUSETTS!! So proud of you. Democrats, take note. We cannot make it anymore obvious that we do not want your healthcare bill. Stop saying Massachusetts voted Brown in because they are angry the healthcare bill hasn't passed yet. If that were the case, they would not have voted someone in who has the ability to completely kill it. Kthanks.

Everyone have a good semester and shine the light!!

thats a bummer about your prof but very very good news that you were able to switch! i know that class would have driven me nuts, too.

i just read about massachussetts and i am soo thrilled! it also said that this was the 3rd democrat loss for the senate. apparently virginia and new jersey elected republicans in november. so maybe electing obama does have its perks?

Quick Update.

Hi everybody :)

It's been a little while, so a quick update on life:

I am now in the iphone club!! I love it.
The church where I attend has been growing. Since July, we have had at least 17 people place membership at Melrose :) We love our new preacher!
School is going really well. I love my college classes, and I'm looking forward to graduating in December. It is getting soooo close!
I have been sick for over a week. I thought I was getting better, but today was not so good. The flu is not fun.
Joshua Keith has started a Romans study at our house. So far so good!
I'm ready for winter camp :)
The end to You've Got Mail is adorable.

Well, I think I'm done for now. I hope everyone is doing great.

Remember to spread the word!! :)

Love Charlotte McCollum

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I love you! :]

SO....

When I was a baby, mom left the curling iron on one day. That day, I decided to crawl. I went to the cord, yanked it down, and it landed on my face. Many of you have seen the scar it left.

Wednesday, I was fixing my bangs with a curling iron. My hair was in the clamp (the clip thing that you put your hair in before you twist), and I accidentally dropped it. It, still connected to my hair, hit my face. By the time I was able to move it from my face, I was burned on my nose and forehead.

Hopefully this encounter with the curling iron won't leave a scar. BUTTT I did this RIGHT before camp. :(:( So my nose is burned and my forehead is too. Which is kindaa a bummer. It won't ruin camp though, or what is after it. :)

Camp is in TWO days. I can't wait!!!

Funny story :)

On our way home tonight, Mom requested we drop her off to work off the popcorn she ate. When we turned into our neighborhood, Dad and I dropped off Sarah, Matt, Cayla, and my mom.

Well, Dad and I arrived at the house, and he suggested we start walking towards them to try to scare them. I agreed, and we grabbed a flashlight and headed out. I was pretty excited. Any chance to scare mom gets me psyched.

We were brainstorming about exactly what would be the best way to scare them. I wanted to hide and wait, but daddy has a low tolerance level for sitting still. He replied, "We don't want to wait all night." So I was a good little daughter and followed him. After a couple minutes of walking, we heard them and dad motioned for me to get behind a tree. But he found a bigger tree so he wanted to move. Unfortunately, we were trapped. We were too far away from the road to jump out and scare them.

We had to walk behind them. Matt kept turning around so we hugged the side of the road. Luckily, it was very dark. They were almost to the house--we had to run. Dad started jogging and I ran behind him.

As we got closer, Dad turned on the light and yelled, "HEY YOU! GET ON DA GROUND!" (he was trying to disguise his voice..it was hilarious). Mom froze. She had a face of petrification/protection as she tried to shield Sarah and Cayla. Matt started charging Dad while letting out a "fierce" battlecry. His intimdation was astounding :P

Dad and I laughed the whole way home. Daddy was beside himself; the sheer brilliance of a plan that was executed flawlessly. He giggled triumphantly as mom gasped and held on to her heart.

Im not sure Mom enjoyed the walk as much as she thought she would. However, Dad and I enjoyed their walk more than we thought we would :P

BTW, Mommy is fine :)
