So...today was my first day as a full-time college student.
Government II: American Government and Texas Government. How bad can it be?
Sarah and I walk into class. A sweet-looking, santa-ish old man is obviously the teacher, and I am hopeful that this guy cusses less than my earlier teacher. He starts out just fine-funny, friendly, etc. After he goes through attendance, he starts cussing...A LOT. He starts talking about a highly inappropriate word (all cuss words are bad, but this one we absolutely cannot stand) and how we are going to discuss what it means to us. REALLY? What does that have to do with American government? He claims it is freedom of speech and since we are adults we can talk about this word. He also goes onto say we will be looking at basically porn (he also used the word "explicit"). SERIOUSLY? Dear Professor, you are 70 years old. Surely you know bigger words than four letter ones, and it is creepy that you want us to look at porn. Can't we just discuss it? Is it necessary to see it? I don't think so. Okay. Then he finishes with a big rant about how we, as Texans, defied the Constitution when we banned gay marriage. Apparently, it's a civil right.
Needless to say, we felt we couldn't stay in this class. We would be so uncomfortable if he did show us porn, discuss an inappropriate word, and continue with his obvious liberal slant. After our last class, we went to admissions and asked to be transferred.
While we were waiting in line, Sarah was texting with a fellow student. He said he has fulfilled both his government reqirements, and he had the coolest professor ever. He believed his professor's classes are in high demand and would be completely full. Additionally, we had wanted to take more honor classes but couldn't due to conflicting time schedules.
Finally, we sit down to tell the advisor we have to switch classes. The first one she finds is an honors class with that professor!! I am absolutely thrilled. :)
Also....YAY MASSACHUSETTS!! So proud of you. Democrats, take note. We cannot make it anymore obvious that we do not want your healthcare bill. Stop saying Massachusetts voted Brown in because they are angry the healthcare bill hasn't passed yet. If that were the case, they would not have voted someone in who has the ability to completely kill it. Kthanks.
Everyone have a good semester and shine the light!!

i just read about massachussetts and i am soo thrilled! it also said that this was the 3rd democrat loss for the senate. apparently virginia and new jersey elected republicans in november. so maybe electing obama does have its perks?
I heard about the election results this morning on facebook! lol That's so great! And they were talking about it on the Today show this morning, and the anchors really like him. haha
I'm glad you got to transfer!!
