Shocking...I know

A new post!!

You might be wonderful what event could warrant a new post. My friend Kacey brought her precious new baby out to Seattle for a couple days, that's what! We had a wonderful visit. It was so much fun to ooh and ahh over baby Statler and just hang out. Here are a few photos so that the rest of you can see how much FUN Seattle really is. David and I LOVE having visitors!

Statler with his big grin!

Kacey entering Pike Place Market for the first time. She has her hot tea and her sleeping baby all slinged up!

Kacey and me at the original Starbucks!

Statler and me just before they caught their plane back to Texas. He is such a cuddler!

We had a weekend filled with fun, a lot of laughing and massive amounts of baby cuddling. Thanks for coming you two!! Love ya.

Thanks. I thought that lady was probably the dumbest person I ever met. I kept laughing about her in the store (to myself of course). Seriously!

Well, Mom has been hounded me about taking more videos of the girls and Statler, so Ken has been great at catching them doing things and then getting the video on the computer ASAP so the tapes aren't just sitting around. And I think I'm clear on your priorities of favs in your life. Maybe I can squeeze in there somewhere? ;)

That's funny because when I am free to watch it, Paula Deen is never on! You must be watching it at totally different times from me. I get Rachael Ray all the time. I have to listen to her for a few minutest to decide if I'm going to watch the rest. If her voice sounds like she spent the whole night screaming at her husband's band concert (which she does a LOT), then I can't watch. Her voice is hard enough on the ears. Sometimes, if it's really bad, I can't take it. I like Ina Garden on Barefoot Contessa and The Neeleys are funny. :)

Thanks! Merry belated Christmas to you, too. I did not make the friend phone calls or texts this year because frankly, Christmas stank of poo and throw up, literally. I'm so glad it's over!

Thanks for the help with my book. I'm really ready to see the movie, but I'm still going to finish the book first. Yeah, Julie's attitude in the book is so crazy! It makes me wonder if she enhanced her bad qualities in the book since it's autobiographical and possibly she views herself in that way even if others don't? I don't know. I'm just not sure what she has to be such a grouch about. I have to say, though, the book does make me want to buy a copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking, just to try some of those amazing recipes she writes about. I like how she pretty much outlines the recipes in the book as she's cooking them. That potato soup she starts with sounds out of this world and totally simple.

I'm reading my latest cookbook right now: the best of Fix It and Forget It Cookbook. It's huge! I'm trying to use my slow-cooker more, so Mom got me this book and it's inspiring me. Good night!

Hi! I can help you! Well, in a few weeks. I'm such a newbie still! But in a way, can't you see how all this time has really progressed me to this point? I mean, I just love encouraging people with healthy eating and exercise, so I'm shocked that I haven't found myself here a lot sooner. I'm so excited!

A heartfelt note of gratitude

Dear Washington,

You win.

The Arizona sun has you beat by a mile and it doesn't rain there near as much as it does here. The Florida beaches are better than yours and it doesn't get cold there for very long. Plus, they have Disneyworld. These are just facts.

But, you have a few tricks up your sleeve and I can respect that. First, you claim my husband as your native an I will follow him to the ends of the earth. That's one point for you. Second, you have these amazing markets that make me salivate just by driving by and ignite my kitchen creativity. That's another point. Third, you have a way of shining your brilliant sunlight (occasionally, mind you) through the trees that are turning all sorts of reds, oranges and yellows. That's a pretty cool trick and I'm starting to understand why the people here think you are the best state in this beautiful U.S. of A.

So, now that we've got all that out in the open, could you please shine that beautiful sunlight just a tad bit more often for me?

Thanks,
Your Newest Advocate

p.s. Perhaps we can talk again when it's winter time? I might need a few more favors.

I'm getting excited! I'm trying to get so much done around here so I can leave with peace of mind that at least my house looks great! Oh and about Miss America--I totally don't think Miss Indiana should have won. I was really pulling for Miss Florida or Miss New York. They were both so great, but I think the talent thing pulled it through for Miss Indiana. She sang with that awful shrill opera tone. Miss New York sang a song that was marginally okay. Miss Florida's dance was adorable and so spunky, but I guess it wasn't up to par with breaking glass with the sound of ones voice. Ah well.

Well, I'm really into those Quaker granola bars that are 90 calories--chocolate chunk flavor. Sandwich stuff is fine with me, but of course, I love your jazzed up hogie-style sandwiches, so we could do those for lunches! Have you made any tasty dinners lately??? I'd love to have anything you make, honestly.

I have made shrimp jambalaya for us and it's SO yummy, if you like spicy foods like I do. Also it's pretty low on points as far as a good sized dinner goes. Let me know if that sounds good. The recipe for it is online, so I can just look it up when I get there, or I can send you the link for the ingredients. I bet you have most of the ingredients already though.
