I was born with a caulk gun in my hands.

Well, I haven't posted in forever, but no one reads this anyway. In fact, I'm kindof over Pleo. I've lost the will to write anything beyond 140 characters. Sad. I used to write all the time.

Daniel and I are remodeling the kitchen. We started Memorial Day weekend and took that week off work. This has taken way longer than we planned, but in the back of our minds we knew that would be the case. To date, the paint is on the walls, the cabinets are installed, and Daniel almost has the floor covered with tile. Tomorrow we will clean and seal it so hopefully we can grout it Sunday afternoon. We're under the gun because the appliances will be delivered Tuesday. I guess it doesn't sound like we've done much, but we've actually pulled a couple of almost all-nighters. This house was built in 1934, so when we ripped everything out, we ran into some issues and had to patch the wall in lots of places. I scraped paint until my arms were numb, and Daniel scraped the floor to get the glue up from the linoleum (sp?) that was underneath tile but on top of hard wood. Very much looking forward to getting the refrigerator out of my dining room, and cleaning up the thick layer of dust that covers everything. Our countertops will be installed July 6th and we hope to be done with everything but backsplash by then. We have to replace the light fixtures and install shelving in the pantry and touch up some paint between now and then - easy.

Now that I've put you to sleep...

Not much else going on. My life is boring. And I like it that way.

BOOM!

At 7:58am I heard the sonic boom from the Discovery shuttle passing overhead at 16,000 mph. It landed at Cape Canaveral at 8:08 (central)... a short ten minutes later... and a long 7 hour drive from my house. Apparently it crossed the entire country in 15 minutes and traveled over 6 million miles during the 2 weeks it was in orbit. That's insane.

We're having a gospel meeting with Leon Mauldin next week on Being More Like Jesus. I'm very much looking forward to it. If you're in the area, stop on by. It's Mon-Fri at 7.

Daniel and I have decided to remodel the kitchen. We have two Monday holidays in a row - Memorial Day and the Monday after - so we're going to take the four days off in between. We won't get the whole thing finished, but we should be able to get a good start on it. Just pray we don't kill each other in the meantime... :)

25. Yoplait Smoothies - Just add milk and blend. DELICIOUS.
26. Glass tile backsplash.
27. Those first few weeks of spring where it's just cool enough in the morning and not too hot during the day, and always the perfect temperature to open the windows and sunroofs.

Well that answered my question-if you were writing a check or doing it yourself. Yippy for new kitchen! I saw Leon Sunday. my rents go to church with him now.

Way past time for an update.

Dont' have much to tell you though. So, I'll leave you with this.

Guilty, vile and helpless we
Spotless Lamb of God was He.
Full atonement! Can it be?
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Sang this during worship yesterday, and this verse has been in my thoughts.

Little things:
22. Opening the song book to the exact number called.
23. Having a perfectly organized pantry - it goes from a crowded mess to having plenty of space.
24. Listening to stories told by the old(er) folks.

What is it about opening your song book to the right number that is just so cool? And of course, you have to show everyone that you did it too!

Roadtrips, Concerts and a Pup in the Snow

I don't have much to post about, but I'm tired of looking at the previous post. :)

Went to Memphis with these two for MLK. The weekend included the following activities:
-sushi in a Holiday Inn (weird, yet delicious)
-lots and lots of running in the rain
-trolley rides
-MLK museum
-shopping
-Rendezvous ribs
-worship with a small group of Christians that included the singing of Hard Fightin' Soldier (awesome)

Went to Tampa with her for our FC reunion. The three days included the following activities:
-driving
-more driving
-dinner with Grandma
-a lecture
-reunion gathering in Sutton Hall (still smells the same)
-lunch at Old World Cheese Shop or something
-reunion gathering part 2
-coffee with friends
-Cracker Barrell
-IKEA
-driving
-Fazoli's
-more driving
-still more driving

Went to the John Mayer concert in Birmingham. Daniel got sick the night before, so he couldn't go. I volunteered to stay home and let someone else have the tickets, but it's a good thing he declined because I didn't really mean it. Does this make me a bad wife? Probably. What can I say? Seasonal flus come and go, but John Mayer from the 7th row is a rare opportunity. She was a great stand-in date.

OH! And it snowed in Montgomery. It never snows this far south. But, naturally Casey-pup had to get out and investigate.

Puppy's first (snow) steps - she's not too sure what to think of this:

And not too good at walking in it either... Whoops!! Thank you, adjustable shutter speed:

Our humble abode. After her mishap, Casey was content to watch from the window... See her peeking out of the curtain?:

I guess I had more to post about than I realized. And I haven't kept up with my Little Things in the past few posts. I'll pick up where I left off.
19. Good seats at concerts.
20. Remembering a funny story with an old friend and still laughing about it til you cry ten years later.
21. Girl Scout Cookies. Tis the season for Thin Mints.

Love the pics of Casey pup. She's much more handsome than John Mayer. Oh, thin mints, how delicious you would be on my lips. But since I would eat the whole box in one sitting, I will skip them this year.

Sounds like you had fun except for the driving part. I understand that! Thankfully Ryan did the actual driving and I just refereed(sp?) the kids. I don't know which is harder. :) Looks like an awesome concert! I don't like the way he moves his mouth though. It's distracting. Anyways, it was good to see you and I'm sorry we didn't hang out more! Ryan's looking at jobs in GA so who knows maybe we'll see you soon!

Walkin' in Memphis... Walkin' with my feet ten feet off of Beale...

Well, there's been some nasty stuff going around the 'Nast recently. That needs to stop! How are we supposed to love the lost when we can't even love EACH OTHER??!!

Moving on...

All I can say, is that it's been a draining week. Do you ever feel like you're drowning in thoughts/work, yet you look around and feel like you've accomplished nothing?? It's only Wednesday, but my brain is fried. I am so excited to get out of Montgomery and hang out with two of my besties for a weekend.

Friday can't get here fast enough!!!

(I would like to clarify that I will miss my sweet husband very much while I'm gone... lest any rumors get started.) :)
  • bromita
Have fun in Memphis! Have a fried p-nut butter and banana sammie for me. People on here are silly sometimes. As our preacher says, they can go jump in a lake!

I haven't been on here much but I've thankfully missed out on the nasty stuff. How sad. I think sometimes people are more prone to write things than they would be to say them to other's faces. And I'm sure that some have good intentions but still, words can be very hurtful!

When I was young I was kind of mutter through the "feet ten feet off of Beale" part because I had no idea what the words were. Not that it stopped me from attempting to sing the song.
