BIG NEWS!

So, we had some incredible happenings occur this week.

Let me give the full story on here, since I can't really on Facebook.

When we returned from our wedding/honeymoon excursions, we were talking about places to live because of the cost of living out here in Southern California, ESPECIALLY in Orange County! It. Is. Obsurd. We researched various locations that Erik could get a possible job transfer to....Sacramento, Monteray Park, San Diego, Santee. But we realized that we'd be in the same boat then that we are now: barely scraping by with no chance of getting ahead, me not able to get a teaching job and Grady not able to have his own room/space and definitely NOT able to afford having/raising any future children. We started researching out of state locations to transfer but possibly for new jobs, but with the stipulation that we would have to be just one non-stop flight away from the OC area for Gman, OR 6 hours or less. There were just A LOT of things we had to look into: jobs, Gman situations, cost of living, jobs, teaching jobs, etc.

We settled on trying for Phoenix. We prayed about it. Researched it. Inquired about it from friends. Basically we found that it would be easy for Erik to get SOME KIND of call center job, and I could get a teaching credential easier than in CA; there would be 3 scorching hot months of misery to endure in exchange for 9 months of beautiful weather; there are at least 5 sound churches in the Phoenix area and surrounding suburbs; there are 3 awesome choruses for Sweet Adeline's (Including one FOUR TIME Gold medal chorus--Scottsdale Chorus!); it would be a cheap round trip ticket to LAX, Ontario, or the OC airports to see Gman; and we could get an 2 bedroom apartment for less than $500/month!

But first things first.

Erik applied not even two weeks ago to American Express in several different departments. He got an email to continue the process the next day! They called the day after that and said let's interview! So this past Monday, he had a phone interview. Wednesday he had a second phone interview. FRIDAY they called him and said we want to offer it to you for more than what you're making now. Oh, and you start June 4th!

SNAP! I love how God works in mysterious ways!!

I will be staying behind until June 30th to continue working and packing up our apartment until then. We are both SO excited about this and the plans God has for us both! Please pray that my Arizona certification can come through VERY soon so that I can begin my hunt for a teaching job in the area where we'll be living. The SOONER that can happen, the SOONER we can both feel good about getting our finances managed and our student loans taken care of.

So, that's the big news about us for now!!

It sounds like a good situation. I hope it works well for Grady. I know that has to be hard on everyone.
