...Still Here...

In my last post a few years ago, I said that I was almost an empty-nester. Well...since it has been so long since I posted, a few marvelous things have happened to our family... We are grandparents now!
We have two sons-in-law. Amy was married March 1, 2010, and Heather was married August 9, 2008. Amy now has a newborn (in fact, her daughter was born February 12, 2012). Heather is expecting her first May 13. She is expecting a daughter also.

God has blessed us richly!

(When we get a new family photo made, I'll need to figure out how to post it. The picture I have is out-dated)

Yes, this picture was taken in January of 2006 or 2007. Alot has happened since then. :)

Finally

Hi! I realized it has been almost a year since I last posted...and my life has changed drastically since then. I guess you could say I'm almost an "empty-nester."
Heather was married August 9th (I would post pictures, but don't know how...) She seems very happy. Married life is agreeing very well with them. (also, I finally have a son)
Amy has been working quite a bit lately. She babysits and does work on the computer for a family at church.
Of course, my DH Scot, is working everyday to support his changing family.

The silence is deafening!

(I should have added that I am recovering from surgery. I had a complete hysterectomy in June. I feel almost back to normal, except my back muscles took a tremendous "hit."...which will take some time for them to adjust to the loss of firmness in my abdominal muscles. In the meantime, the back muscles are causing some pain.)

Awww... I thought of you the other day when I found the fall stickers you sent me last year. I am going to let the kids use them to make fall cards for the grandparents. I don't know why we didn't use them last year... maybe I put them away and forgot where they were, because it was an odd place. :)

I'm glad you feel almost back to normal. My sis had that surgery, and it's a lot to go through. Glad the girls are doing well!

Hey, Mrs. Powers! It's good to hear from you :) I actually haven't talked to Heather in a long time! :/ I hope all is well with her and Philip. I am definitely enjoying college life here at F.C. I hope you get to feeling better soon! You will be in my prayers.

Hi there! I am his mom! Congratulations on Heather's marriage! She is such a sweet girl! I don't guess I will have the empty nest for around 13 more years, as my baby is just turning 5 soon. Still, it has been so hard to give up the older ones to college! At least I get to see Daniel at worship on Sunday and Wednesday. I was really missing him when he lived in Lexington for a while, but he loved and cherishes all the friends he made there. They still keep up! Hope your surgery heals well. I had a terrible time with my last baby and had to have a C-section followed by an "obstruction" surgery three days later. They might have just left something in there the first time, who knows! Anyway, it is good to "meet" you! You have a sweet family!

It takes a long time to heal as my Dad knows.
I am so happy to hear about Mr Marvin. Dad told us that everything is looking really good for him.

Engagement

I hope everyone out there had a wonderful and merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Our Christmas Eve was very memorable and special. Our youngest daughter, Heather, was proposed to. Her Phillip is a very spiritual young man and is precious to us (and he is romantic, too). He asked Scot for her hand a few weeks ago. Then on Christmas Eve, he proposed to her in front of our family and his family. He also got down on one knee to "ask the question" (oh, she said "Yes". They want to marry sometime near the end of July)

Oh, BTW, this past Christmas Eve was my 50th birthday...I'll never forget it.

Finally....an update

Well, can you believe that summer is about over? I hope everyone had a great summer vacation. Heather has already started school for this year, and Amy will start her class at the University of Louisville the 20th.

I wonder if God made the winter months seem long and dreary so that we would appreciate the beautiful summer even more...What do you think?
  • phoenixsong
It's been very hot and very dry here this summer! I think for the first time in a long time, I am ready for winter's chill again!

I was at the gym today on the treadmill and the news said heaitng bills will go up 10% this winter. This means our house is going to be cold!

Boring instead of Weird

Ok, so I've been tagged.

The rules:
each player of this game starts with the "6 weird habits about you." People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 things and state this rule clearly. At the end, I'll choose 6 people that I'm tagging and list their names. You'll each recieve a comment telling you that you have been tagged. (That is if I can find six people who have not already been tagged)

1. I want to pull weeds in the front yard ... but can't because of a sore back.

2. I like to collect recipes.

3. I like to vacuum and see the vacuum marks ... but ... (please refer to #1).

4. I like tapioca pudding.

5. I like to hoe weeds in the garden ... but ... (please refer to #1).

6. I like things to be clean and in order ... but ... (sore back)

I sound like a neat freak. I guess I have been since we moved into a house in Texas when Amy was still crawling. The top of her socks were black from the dirty floor. (Kinda bothered me ... and from that time I decided to be able to "eat" off my kitchen floor).

I'll get back to the six people I have to tag. Is anyone left who has not been tagged? Let me know.

-Kim

Well, I couldn't stand seeing those weeds out front, so I pulled up some of them (I took Phoenixsong's advice and wore 3 heat pads while doing the pulling)
  • aleta
Tell me again where ya'll lived when you were here. Was it Dallas area?
    by aleta at 03/27/07 9:15PM
  • blessed_one
I think we have a Gladys Kravitz (sp.) living in our neighborhood. Yesterday, two of our neighbors were looking and pointing at the weeds in our front yard. (I feel helpless at the moment, and either allergies are bothering Heather or she has a cold).

Plus, Scot is very busy in the evenings. I don't know when he will have time to get to those weeds.
